Old Major has seen it fit to dispose his "wisdom" onto his comrades at the farm they tirelessly slave at. He has grown tired of his life of "misery and slavery," a life that he has endured for years on end, and has now decided it is time to take action. The focus is on a farm that has overthrown their owners and is now being run by a socialist/communist regime of pigs. The author an American, makes it clear that communism is not our friend or anyone's friend for that matter.

Using this method to capture multiple important events throughout the novel, from the royalty of the pigs, to the overthrowing of Squeakers.

However as time goes on the pigs of the farm begin to gain power and as the theme suggests, they quickly become corrupted. This novel continues to examine human nature on how those who gain power can quickly become corrupted, showing a strong relation to Macbeth in which power is not always good.
