One struggle I fear from teaching is students having difficulty mastering tasks to complete. I will always have high-expectations for my students and it is important for them to achieve well on tasks to get corrective feedback on the skills that may need more work. I just know as future educator that I constantly have to work with my students who are struggling give them the support they need. I do not want them to feel like I do not care or will not try to help in any way I can.

I have always loved this book since I have been seven years old. My grandma read it to me and I love the meaning behind the book. The Giving Tree has an emotional meaning to me that no matter the boy did or acted towards the tree she loved the anyways. My grandma has always been there for me and she has had a lot of health problems as she getting older and she doesn't ask for much but shes always so giving and caring about her grandchildren. I realize now that I'm older that being in her presence is a gift enough that I will never take for granted because she is one of the most selfless and loving woman I know. The quote from the book "I wish that I could give you something... but I have nothing left. I am an old stump. I am sorry..."
"I don't need very much now," said the boy, "just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired."
"Well," said the tree, straightening herself up as much as she could,
"well, an old stump is a good for sitting and resting. Come, Boy, sit down. Sit down and rest." reminds me how no matter what even though I do not need much her comfort is always the best part.

It's fun for me because I feel professional when reading because its nice for them to hear how the book is read. I also enjoy friendly discussions talking about the book and bringing the characters to life.

My privilege is being rewarded in my economic status which is high-middle class. This picture shows me happily receiving my second car when I was graduating high school. I remember discussing me getting a new car with my parents but I did not know when I was going to get it. Taking these pictures outside of my house that I still live in and love in my driveway was a special moment for me. I was grateful to be receiving a new car and being my second one not many had that privilege at my age with my parents affording to do so. Being where I'm from and my parents have supported me way above my means especially being given a car that I did not at first contribute to at all even gas is beyond gratifying. Most of my friends were not as privileged as me and had to work for things like this especially after graduating high school. I will always be eternally grateful for the life my parents have provided me with because I realize now that I'm older this is one many privileges I was given.

I love trying new things and experiencing things that I have not done before. Most of the time I like taking a risk because you never know what that can lead to or how that can impact you. This picture represents myself being free and surrounded by natures beauty and embracing my surroundings in a new experience in my life. I love to have fun and see different things and embrace myself into enjoying something new because I truly do believe you are never too old to learn something new.

Developing an understanding of students' lives also enables myself to increase the relevance of lessons and make more meaningful examples in real life situations. Connecting with your students and learning what they like is so enjoyable and it helps to build a positive classroom environment. To know that you will make an impact on their lives in someway is gratifying and I know it apart of the foundation of being a good teacher.

My cultural value that I have inherited from my family is hard work and perseverance. My father has taught my siblings and I at very young age the dedication of hard work and if you want some thing bad enough you'll make it happen. Swimming has always been one of favorite things that I love to do. I had neighborhood pool where I learned how to swim there when I knew how to walk. I joined a summer league swim team when I was eight years old and competitively swam all the way up to my senior year of high school. The picture shows me at one of my first swim meets and at my very last swim meet. In high school I dislocated my right shoulder multiple times from swimming had to get surgery on my shoulder so I missed majority of my sophomore season. I thought I was never going to be able to swim again. After my surgery, I did rehab and I was able finish my junior and senior swim seasons. I received my athletic letter my senior year which was all I wanted to accomplish in my high school swim season.

My cultural fear is failure. One of my greatest fears is not graduating college. This is a picture that shows my younger sister graduating from Savannah State University. At first when I heard her talking about graduating and knowing she would be graduating college before her me, her big sister, was a let down for me. I have struggled throughout my college career and unfortunately could not graduate in four years like my sister. My family has supported me through all the good and bad times in my life and so far college has been the hardest but without their support I would not be where I am today about to graduate college in May 2020. Most of my family has graduated college which is such an accomplishment in itself. In terms of race most black families may have one or two people graduate college from their whole family. I do not want to be another statistic which is why I show this picture being so happy for my sister finishing what she started and getting her degree which is an amazing accomplishment no matter what.

My important object to me is seashells that I have either collected from the beach myself or have been given to me as gifts. They are so beautiful and magical gifts from nature that hold a special place in my heart. The beach is my favorite place and finding seashells that I can get engraved is special to me because it is a family moment that I cherish when we go to different beaches because travelling is a gift that I love to do and experience. Seashells also bring good fortune and being at the beach reminds me to let go of all the worries and bring a sense of peace and calmness that I always think of when I collect a seashell from there. This helps represents me culturally by remembering that I deserve good things and experience what all life has to offer because some people may never get too.

My photos and language and literacy education say about my funds of knowledge is that my background and privilege of how I was raised I know that there will be students that come from all over and have different economic statuses and treat them no differently and help more than anything because I am a mentor as well for my students. I have always had high expectations for myself and want high expectations for my students and in my language I will be motivating and encouraging them along the way to work together, complete tasks, and try when struggling. I want my students to express themselves in different social practices and apply their surroundings in the classroom. As I'm still learning to be an effective good teacher I have implemented a lot in my field experiences that shows me how to be more culturally relevant and apply prior knowledge and make an impact with using different strategies and make connections. Children's' understanding of literacy can be taught with the help and encouragement of their cultural experiences because it can help them understand their literacy practices. Making sure everything is aligned and is clear and to support the students if they might not understand and knowing that you will be there for them no matter what. I will be different in my classroom to promote equity is remind my students first this is a safe space and I want to instill is the inclusivity and openness to be yourself and have self-expression and be thoughtful of others opinions and thoughts, I will serve my students by never giving up on them and always pushing them to do better not for me but for themselves.
