"We painted and read together; or I listened, as if in a dream, to the wild improvisations of his speaking guitar." (pg. 326)

This quote relates to romantic and gothic literature because it is the emotional condition and feeling the reader gets from what is occurring in the story. The guy helping his friend to make him feel better about his sister is heartwarming which makes the reader feel that way.

"A small picture presented the interior of an immensely long and rectangular vault or tunnel, with low walls, smooth, white, and without interruption or device."

In this portion of , "The Fall of the House of Usher," Roderick is found talking about his sister to his friend, the narrator. He goes on about her impending death, coming to the conclusion that her death would leave him as the only Usher alive. The narrator then provides us with exposition on Madeline's medical condition; on in which she wouldn't be able to move her body, becoming like a corpse.
After days of painting and reading together, the narrator outlines a specific song Roderick plays for him; which is a metaphor for insanity. The narrator would note that he remembers all of this because of how Roderick seems sane during the performance.

"No outlet was observed in any portion of its vast extent, and no torch, or other artificial source of light was discernible.." (pg. 327)

-This quote relates to romantic and gothic literature because it shows a sense of often mysterious. This shows "often mysterious" because usually houses are lit up with lights and have color and are overall bright so people can see where they are walking, however, in The Fall of the House of Usher it's dark and barely lit with lights, making it dark and scary feeling.

"The lady Madeline passed slowly through a remote portion of the apartment, and, without having noticed my presence. disappeared." (pg. 326)

-This quote relates to romantic and gothic literature because it shows a sense of a mysterious setting. It shows mysterious setting because in that quote it says that Madeline slowly passed him in a section of the house, and from before we have heard that the house is dark and scary, and then all of a sudden Madeline was gone.
