• This passage makes it sound as though the fetchers have dropped her underground in a cave/den/new dimension?

• ‘You are good at fixing,’ First says. ‘You will make her shiny and new.’ 
•  ‘I will tell him, you will fix her.’ - implying there’s something wrong with her

• Isobel can't fight back because they are massive weird big birds???? Who might not even be alive, her hand is broken, she's trapped and there are two of them. 

• Fetchers describe their role by saying, ‘We find, we give, but never keep. Colours are for HIM!!!!!’ implying that they work under another boss and collect ‘colours’ for him.

• They give her a ‘jelly’ that fixes her broken hand after it burns and then put her to sleep.

Catching uses her memories to fight the grey with its opposite as she destroyed the grey (fear) with courage.

2. Explain Catching’s strength in this chapter?

Catching finds hope and strength to name and defeat the grey and bring back her colour destroying the world that the feed once lived in.

3. Describe the Feed when he is cornered. Does he appear tough?

The feed’s sense of importance and power fails and he becomes insignificant and weak and is swiftly taken out by catching.

She then replies with "Trying to save me?" Her face was stony and remote. Like the rock endures. Too late.’ Meaning catching believes Michael can't help her and her friend. ‘Too late’ interpreting he was too late to protect catching. 

2. Catching uses her anger and sadness to tell Beth that she needs to move on. What do you think Beth is starting to realise? Find a quote in the last paragraph on page 125 to support this.

Beth is starting to realise that she should move on and she had been focusing on getting dad back to how he was before she’d died, but she really needs to start trying to get dad to be able to live on without Beth. We can see this in the text when Beth thinks to herself, “I’d been focusing on getting Dad back to who he’d been before I died. Now I was thinking I should have been helping him to go on to become a person who knew how to live in a world where I wasn’t alive.

3. Why does Catching only want to 'be heard'?

She wants to be heard because she can look after herself and be more independent and on her own. She also wants to only be heard because like in question one we find out that it is already too late for Catching to be heard.

4. I took all of Beth's energy not to cross over. Why was she fighting leaving her Dad?

Beth is fighting with her father because he won’t forgive Aunty Viv for the death of Beth from the car crash. Beth tried  to convince her father to accept the call from Aunt Viv but instead he got mad at Beth for annoying him.

Catching revealed that 100 paces to the west is going from the home to the bunker

2. Catching gains a lightness after being heard. Why? 

In the story Catching was described as “there was a lightness about her that hadn’t been before” this is because she didn’t seem fragile the way she’d done after telling the other parts of the story before.

3. What had Oscar Sholt built?

Oscar Sholt made a bunker because he thought there was an apocalypse.

She feels sad because she believes that her Dad is losing interest in the case that they’ve been trying to solve.

2. Why did Sarah's disappearance not get much attention?

Because the boss cop, Gerry Bell, and the rest of the community did not treat the Aboriginal Australian citizens with as much attention and care as they would with any other lost child. Aboriginal citizens were treated unfairly so Sarah’s family and friends were ignored.

3. What was Michael's view on injustice and bad people being enabled by others?

Micheal detests the unfairness and injustice of people being enabled by others especially by people who are supposed to enforce the law. This belief sprouted when Michael’s father discriminated against Micheal’s wife and would abandon his child.

4. Michael breaks down about the loss of Beth in this chapter, how does he feel about her loss?

He believes it’s his fault and that he could have been there for her even though it was an accident.

He is killed in his own house by an unknown person. The person who killed him was someone he trusts since he let them into the house before being killed.

catching had some of her colour sucked out of her and she started to reign some colour because she told her story

3. Explain the importance of Catching ancestral stories in aiding her survival.

Helping catch gives her motivation and strength, and she often repeats the name of her ancestors, her grandmother, her great grandmother, and her mum - when she was in the flood. She remember the story of her grandma when she ran away off a boat, and she found motivation in that as the story was similar to what was happening - she thought if they all survived, so can i.

Catching had been telling beth the story because she had to let go of her dad, he had to move on but they were in the middle of the investigation so after catching tells beth the whole story to the case and how she also needs to move on from her dad/ michael. Also, Catching told beth the story to be heard.

5. What does Beth need to talk to her father about? 

About how she has to leave him behind and go to the other side with all the colour and Micheal agreed and moved on as well.
