Despite the great description his GPA and extracurriculars provide the admissions offices with, this student additionally had to send in his SAT score. This article from Whitby School explains why standardized tests do not fully reveal the intelligence of a student, because it is 3 hours of their life to determine their next 4 years. Testing anxiety affects a large portion of students, negatively affecting their scores. -E

However, standardized tests are still standardized tests. This article from FOX Business explains how a great SAT score doesn't qualify a student as hardworking and "high achieving".  Additionally, the article provides numerous cases as to why a high GPA describes a student's academic ability more accurately than a standardized test score.
