Padley is an online post it wall. It allows individuals/groups to post their comments, questions and resources in one place that is easily accessible to everyone. Users can save articles, videos and web pages to their Padlet account for later use. It allows for a simple and efficient clutter-free space. Padlet strips away the unnecessary elements from saved content, presenting a clean and distraction-free interface. Its focus is on individual consumption and personal organization.

On the other hand, Pinterest takes a more visually orientated approach. Users curate and organize content on visual boards. Pinterest can be considered as a social platform, with community engagement through shared interest and visual discovery. The app is widely used for collecting and sharing ideas and inspiration. Pinterest excels in its ability to spark creativity, making it a go-to for visual learners.

Pocket emphasizes a minimalist style for personal information storage, whereas Pinterest focuses on social interaction, encouraging discovery and collaboration. Padlet focuses on individual curation and consumption, providing a streamlined experience. In contrast, Pinterest encourages users to discover the interests and preferences of a bigger group.

In summary, Padlet is ideal for users seeking a straightforward tool to save and consume content privately. Pinterest, with its emphasis on visual discovery and social sharing, is better suited for those who want a more interactive and community-driven experience. The choice between the two ultimately depends on whether you prioritize personal organization and consumption (Padlet) or a visually rich, community-orientated approach (Pinterest).

How can I use the social media tools used to-date on this module to support my online engagement as a digital citizen, including finding, creating and publishing, curating and managing, and sharing information? 

A distinct difference between both platforms is their user interfaces and content organization. Pocket emphasizes on the concept of simplicity, providing a clutter-free interface that allows clean and quick access to saved content. Saved content can be tagged and categorized, ensuring structure. In contrast, Pinterest places a strong emphasis on visuals. The dynamic grid layout places pins in a visually appealing manner. Users discover and explore content through the images presented to them. Boards serve as collections. These boards foster a visually immersive experience that aligns with the platform's focus, visual discovery.

There is also a social aspect of Pinterest that differentiates it from Pocket. On Pinterest, users can follow, re-pin content, and engage as a community through likes and comments. This facilitates a more interactive and collaborative environment. Pocket leans towards a more private and individualized experience, focusing on personal content curation rather than social sharing.

To summarize, both Pocket and Pinterest revolve around content organization and curation, their approaches and functionalities are significantly different. Pocket promotes simplicity and efficiency for personal content management, whereas Pinterest thrives in creating a visually engaging and socially interactive platform for users to share and inspire. The choice between the two ultimately depends on individual preferences and the desired balance between personal organization and social engagement.

A digital citizen is someone who learns how to properly use the internet and digital technologies. A digital citizen who demonstrates responsible behaviour can engage in peaceful interactions in the digital realm. To become a digital citizen, one must first grasp one's digital rights and obligations, as well as promote a constructive online community. Digital citizenship is especially important in the current day, as our lives become increasingly entwined with rapidly evolving technology. Digital citizenship is crucial in the twenty-first century. It promotes safety online, in a world where digital interactions influence communication, information access, and civic participation. Good digital citizenship is vital for creating a positive, informed, and ethical digital society. Digital encourages online safety, and respect in digital interactions, and educates responsibility in managing personal information and media consumption.

Online participation is important today as it enables instant communication, worldwide connectivity, and information sharing. It encourages individuals to take part in discussions, obtain diverse perspectives, and contribute to a variety of online communities and groups. Increased connectivity promotes collaboration knowledge exchange, and speedy information dissemination. They have an extremely important role in shaping public opinion, raising awareness, and driving social and cultural change. Whereas traditional face-to-face engagement has limited involvement, online engagement allows more people to voice their opinions at their leisure.

Social media tools play an important role in creating digital citizenship by facilitating information sharing, raising awareness of digital issues, and encouraging responsible behaviour online. These tools promote connectedness by offering areas where users can learn, interact, and advocate for positive good digital behaviours. In return, this helps to create a more informed and ethical online society. Furthermore, social media tools enable individuals to build critical thinking abilities and navigate digital challenges if they arise. Social media platforms have evolved into formidable instruments for information gathering and collecting a wide range of features and functionalities. Platforms such as Pinterest, Padlet, and YouTube each contribute a distinct set of features that have aided my online involvement as a digital citizen so far in this module.

Pinterest is a unique social media networking platform that specializes in visual content discovery. Users can curate boards based of their interests, making it useful for finding inspiration, ideas, or information based on information presented visually. Nielsen Norman Group is known for its user experience research. Users can utilize the platforms described above to express themselves, interact with others, and share personal experiences. These platforms can be used to collect data in various of ways. Pinterest is a unique social networking platform that primarily specializes in visual content discovery. Users can curate boards based on their interests, making it useful for finding inspiration, ideas, or information based on information presented visually. Nielsen Norman Group is well known for its user experience research. The findings revealed that the platforms that focus on effective visual information discovery frequently receive favourable feedback from users as visually appealing presentations contribute to a positive user experience, particularly when users seek information through pictures or short clips.

YouTube has transformed the landscape of content creation and publishing, becoming a powerhouse platform for individuals and organizations to share, discover, and engage with diverse content. The purpose of this study is to get a better understanding of YouTubers, as well as to get a better understanding of the practice of video content creation; what this practice is, what it means, and what the implications are for the practitioners. In this study, it was determined that the content created by YouTubers plays a significant role in shaping online culture, and with that role comes great responsibility to create and publish content that is ethical, accurate, and considerate to all individuals.  In this study all content creators expressed their interest to grow; and enhance their content creating and publishing skills in a way that not only benefited themselves but also their viewers.

Reflecting on the concept of digital citizenship, I have come to appreciate its significance in navigating the complex landscape of the internet and evolving digital technologies. Digital citizenship is especially important in the current day, as our lives become increasingly entwined with rapidly evolving technology. Being a digital citizen involves not only mastering the use of online tools but also demonstrating responsible behaviour that fosters positive interactions within the digital realm. It requires a deep understanding of one's digital rights and obligations, as well as a commitment to promoting a constructive online community.

In today's rapidly advancing technological era, digital citizenship holds paramount importance. It serves as a cornerstone for ensuring online safety, influencing communication dynamics, shaping information access, and fostering civic participation. Embracing good digital citizenship practices is not merely a recommendation but a necessity for building a positive, informed, and ethical digital society. This realization underscores the vital role digital citizenship plays in encouraging online safety, respectful digital interactions, and responsible management of personal information and media consumption.

The contemporary era places great emphasis on online participation, facilitating instant communication, global connectivity, and information sharing. Engaging in online discussions, gaining diverse perspectives, and contributing to various online communities have become essential components of digital citizenship. The increased connectivity not only promotes collaboration and knowledge exchange but also facilitates swift information dissemination, enabling individuals to shape public opinion, raise awareness, and drive social and cultural change.

Crucial to the development of digital citizenship are social media tools, which serve as catalysts for information sharing, awareness creation, and the promotion of responsible online behaviour. These platforms provide spaces for learning, interaction, and advocacy, nurturing positive digital behaviours and contributing to a more informed and ethical online society. Social media platforms have evolved into formidable instruments for information gathering and collecting a wide range of features and functionalities. In my experience, platforms like Pinterest, Padlet, and YouTube have played pivotal roles in enhancing my digital citizenship during this module.

As a user, I have leveraged these platforms to express myself, interact with others, and share personal experiences. Pinterest, with its focus on visual content discovery, has proven invaluable for finding inspiration and information presented visually. Users can curate boards by ‘pinning’ images and clips that are of interest to them, assembling a collage of ideas and inspiration. The user experience research conducted by Nielsen Norman Group supports the idea that platforms emphasizing effective visual information discovery receive positive feedback from users, enhancing the overall digital experience.(NielsonNormanGroup(2021)

YouTube, as a content creation and sharing powerhouse, has revolutionized how individuals and organizations disseminate diverse content. Exploring the realm of YouTubers and video content creation in this study has revealed the significant role they play in shaping online culture.(Olsson,R.R.(2019). With this influence, however, comes great responsibility. Content creators must strive to produce ethical, accurate, and considerate content, recognizing their impact on viewers and the broader digital community. The content creators that participated in the study expressed their interest in growing; and enhance their content-creating and publishing skills in a way that not only benefited themselves but also their loyal and continuous viewers.

In conclusion, the journey of understanding digital citizenship has illuminated its pivotal role in fostering a positive, informed, and ethical digital society. As I continue to engage with online platforms, I am mindful of the responsibilities that come with being a digital citizen, contributing to a collective effort to shape a digital landscape that is respectful, safe, and conducive to positive interactions.
