Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15th, 1452 in Anchiano, Italy. Sadly on May 2nd, 1519 he passed away in Cloux France.

What was Leonardo da Vinci's life like when he was younger and what did he do before his achievements?

Leonardo da Vinci grew up no different than an average child. He went to school and got the traditional education of reading, writing, and math. However, once he was fifteen his father set him up to be taught by Andrea del Verrocchio, which Leonardo received many trainings such as painting, sculptures, and technical- mechanical arts. At that time Leonardo da Vinci also worked in Antonio Pollaiuolo's workshop. Although, in 1472 Leonardo was accepted into the painters guild of Florence he decided to stay in Andrea del Verrocchio's workshop for five more years.

Mona Lisa

One of Leonardo da Vinci's best accomplishments was the Mona Lisa painting that he started in the year 1503. Sadly, Leonardo was never actually able to finish the painting because he passed away while he was still in the studio working.

Helicopter

The helicopter is one of the most important inventions made in the Middle Ages that we still use daily. Helicopters efficiently transfer people, military, and cargo. They are able to travel at high rates of speed without having to be stopped in traffic. Although helicopters developed greatly over time and look different now, the purpose for them has remained the same. Helicopters used to use a rotary blade that was turned by pulling a string, but now the helicopter uses propellers. Leonardo was impressed with his invention back then; however, if he were here today, he would be very impressed with how much it has evolved over time.

Last Supper

The Last Supper was a painting made in 1494 taking Leonardo Da Vinci almost four years to complete. It was known as “a beautiful and marvelous thing.” All of Da Vinci's inventions affected the world and told us a story, but the Last Supper had one of the best message for us. It shows all the different emotions that there can be in one room just from their posture or seat placement. It was a great example of how not everyone feels the same emotions, and how everyone is different.

In 1481 Leonardo da Vinci made his first sketch of how he wanted the helicopter to look and how he wanted it to work. He then finally published his great accomplishment of the helicopter in 1489. This invention greatly changed transportation in the past and in the present.

The Mona Lisa was once stolen.

In 1911, the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre Museum in France causing an uproar. The poet Guillaume Apollinaire and artist Pablo Picasso were both arrested as suspects in the case of the missing Mona Lisa painting. However, police eventually found the portrait stashed in the bottom of a trunk which belonged to Vincenzo Peruggia, an Italian immigrant who was then arrested. He stole the painting because he believed that it belonged in Italy.
