The difference in the silk road and the Indian ocean is that the silk road trades can happen at any time, but the Indian Ocean has to be made twice a year. Another is that the silk road trades luxury goods and the Indian ocean trade and transport bulk good. Silk road takes longer to complete depending on the destination. Indian Ocean was the fastest trade route back then.

The silk road and the Indian Ocean had similarities. They both had Disease that spread during the trade routes. Also they were both important in the trade world. They both went to a variety of cities during each journey. Although fairly different routes they help the spread of religion and culture to other cities.
