On Monday the 2nd grade students encouraged kindness by creating “The BIG Book of 100 Acts of Kindness.” Students paired up to create 100 acts of kindness for the class.

On Tuesday, during remote learning, students created a valentine for their special valentine. Students were emboldened to celebrate the positive attributes of their classmates. We purposely paired children up with students who they are not necessarily close to.

On Wednesday the 2nd grade read the book LOVING KINDNESS. Loving Kindness encourages us to be tender with ourselves and others, and to open our hearts to the world. This book celebrates connection, compassion, and life. A lovely discussion about the ways we are connected followed the reading.

On Thursday students were given the opportunity to sit with a student they normally would not sit with at lunch. We also encouraged students to play with a student they normally would not play with at recess. Students in 2-205 made thoughtful birthday cards for one of their teachers.

On Friday students and teachers were encouraged to wear something that celebrates our school. Students in 2-205 planned a small party and worked together to celebrate our beloved Ms. Biolsi’s birthday. TEAMWORK at it’s very best! We also read the book I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT! and had a class discussion about the importance of using your “social filter.”
