"today this quartet of old hunting companions had once again gathered to make the familiar journey, but in an unfamiliar spirit" this signifies the meaning of this chapter because the clutter family had just passed away, and Herb's closest friends volunteered to help and clean up the homicide, but the feeling they encountered wasn't something they were familiar with because this time, there was no bright spirit for the men to engage with the clutter family.

"I'm going to know what happened in that house: the why and the who," this signifies that the detective that came in from out of town is going to go into investigation about what had happened to the clutter family, the clutter family will finally get the justice they need!

They were suprised to see how out in the open every family was and were a bit freaked to see how nobody was scared to step outside even after the homicide occurred.

This signifies how after Perry was reading the new letter about the detectives finding clues about the homicide, Dick was asking Perry, if he was having second thoughts why didn't he stop the whole murder plan from the start.

"knowing who killed her isn't going to bring her back," as Susan Kidwell get interviewed, her interview signifies all the hardships the close people to nacy are going through. Her boyfriend isnt able to find love in anyone and Susan recalls all the memories her and her best friend had. This signifies how the clutter family's death had an affect to those who were considered like family. This highlights how the interview really brings out how Susan knows that by knowing who killed the clutter family wont bring back who she missed or change what's been happened.

"Sure honey. I'm with you. All the ways," This signifies that despite that Dick is having second thoughts about his and Perry's journey of going to Mexico, he still wants to go through with it because of the awful homicide they left behind.

"He was too tense to sleep, even if the telephone could be silenced - too frightful and frustrated," this signifies how Al Dewey had no clues on who murdered the clutter family, and the fact that there many people calling him was making him stressed out.

This quote highlights how Dick is now saying goodbye to his old life, where he has to leave behind, his kids, mother and brother he has. This shows how now Dick is making a sacrifice for his own actions in this present life, he will no longer go back to his old life.

"There is so much resentment in the community [that is, garden city]," This signifies how the community wants justice for the Clutter family, that after the wedding they said that when they would find the person who killed the whole clutter family would be hung for what they had did to that innocent family.

"I think there must be something wrong with us" In this opening scene of part II Capote is trying to convince us that Perry was the more remorseful of the 2 while Dick feels "sane" and isn't worried about being caught since it was now their second day in mexico. Of the two Dick was almost like the one in charge and Perry felt a need to constantly please him and in carrying through with the murders he was pleasing Dick. Capote adds in that Dick had an IQ score of 130, Above the average person, and that Perry might have so unidentified issues.

"I've come to trust you Dick" "I'm going to tell you something i never told anybody." "Not even Willie-Jay" This interaction between Perry andDick further solidifys the original idea that Perry sees Dick as something more than a friend and rather more like someone he can look up. Perry telling Dick his "secret" goes to show how much he truly wanted the approval of Dick, considering that the original reason he had eve chose to go to Kansas was to go see his good friend and mentor Willie-Jay. Even though Perry's "secret" might not be true it almost brings Perry peace of mind to know that Dick might believe him.

Chapter 12

"Thanksgiving passed" "Newsmen convinced that this case was never going to be solved, left" "But the case was by no means closed for the people of Finney County" In chapter 12 of part II Capote makes it seem as though the people that were originally about solving the case no longer ha hope that it would be solved as weeks had already gone by, but the locals that would hangout at Hartman's Cafe knew that it wasn't possible for the case to be over whether that was because they each had their conspiracies or for those that refused to believe that a murder actually happened in Holcomb.

Chapter 13

"Still, the were remarkable photographs, and what made the so was Perry's expression". Chapter 13 is Capote's attempt to show us how "wholesome" Perry actually was while taking the pictures as well as when he had caught the fish. Capote also introduces us to Dick and Perry's new "friends".

"Mr. Helm minded- he minded for Herbs sake." In chapter 14 we see how truly those around the Clutters that grew to love them were truly affected by the murders. Helm had been in the family for a while, it was said that herb and Mr. Clutter never had disagreements, which is why it was so hard for Mr. Helm to think that the sheriffs thought he could be the possible murderer. Helm also knew that as long as the murders weren't solved no one would buy the house, which was good considering Helm had promised Mr. Clutter that there would always be a Clutter and Helm working on the property.

"On the fourth day Dick had gone out hunting for honest work" This is when Dick and Perry both realised how hard it was to live life on the run with no money and nowhere to call home. Even though Perry didn't want to go back to the states, the want to be near Dick made it difficult for him not to. Upon leaving Perry reaches out to his family in hopes for help. It is also discovered that Perry had a lover whom he loved very much.

Chapter 17

Nothing" While Dewy was doing a walk through of the house he couldn't help but notice the scarecrow that stood in the field seeing it in a dress he assumed might have been Bonnies, he could help but think about the dream Marie had in which Bonnie was infront of her talking about being murdered was the worst possible way to go. Marie felt as if it was actually happening.

Chapter 18

"Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!" In chapter 18 Dick and Perry are making their way to California but inorder to do so they have perfectly calculated who they wanted to catch a ride with. this was incase they needed to steal money and or kill again.
