Many European countries have constitutional monarchies for the sake of tradition, while  newer countries have republics. This is probably because tyranny is much more likely in an authoritarian state than a democratic state since the leaders of an authoritarian state are not held accountable to the people. Therefore, people are less likely to be oppressed under a democratic government.</p>]]></description>
