Example - Mr. Chorba - I agree that Dr. King and other Civil Rights Movement leaders were able to effectively make change by using non-violent methods. The passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were a direct result of peaceful demonstrations, like the demonstrations organized by the SCLC. In my opinion, violent demonstrations/ resistance not only caused harm to demonstrators and innocent bystanders (like the Watts Riots), but also portrayed a negative image to the cause of equality and equal justice for all.

This help later because the Voting Rights act and the Civil Rights Act was helping them get there point across.

Violent demonstrations provided publicity to the movement which led to more supporters, but I believe that nonviolent demonstrations were more effective. The public responded to events like sit-ins, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Little Rock Nine, and civil disobedience because it was a coalition that was being built; violence tends to scare people away.

I believe so because when a black man is violent against a white man, then the word gets out that a black man assaulted a white man, which hurts the original point.

I believe non violent protests would be more effective not only because of what they did to show their disagreement but also because no one was hurt. Violence would only anger the whites and cause more violence. The smartest thing you can do in a protest is not hurt anyone so the opposing side seems like the bad guy.

Yes, I believe nonviolent demonstrations were more effective than violent demonstration. I believe this so as nonviolence demonstrations that were getting attacked, showed the true violence and hatred towards African Americans. As at the time if "Negroes" were to be even a little out of line they were beaten, murdered, or imprisoned. I believe Martin's philosophy was correct in showing white Americans that African Americans could change the United States without force and riots. African Americans had no choice since even being with white folks is enough for white people to become violent to peaceful protesters.

Jesse Bodkins- yes, I believe nonviolent demonstrations were more effective than violent ones, because you get more flies with honey than you do vinegar. I mean if you go and are appropriate with someone and talking nicely they are more willing to listen and respond back appropriately. If you respond in violence, with nasty talk and weapons it might lite a fire under their 🤬, but your never going to accomplish anything.
