Republican Senators and Congressmen who are up for reelection are trying to side more with Trump and show their support for him. This is so he will campaign for them and so that they wouldn't be at the other end of one of his famous insulting tweets. Even some Democrats in states who Trump won are trying to show how they support him (think our Senator Tester here in MT) Politicians and commentators believe that getting Trump's support will mean more republicans will get out and vote in the midterms when turnout is typically low. Typically midterms elections help the party out of power pick up more seats. I can explain this more in practice because I have lots to say on this. This cartoon is making fun of the amount of protesters that were protesting in Washington D.C. against the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the supreme court. Lots of young people showed up and many women were protesting this nomination. Nikki Haley was the Ambassador to the United Nations (UN). She surprisingly announced her resignation yesterday with Trump praising her and she was praising him. It was the most cordial of all of the resignations from Trump's cabinet thus far. This is depicting how she took this job for political gain since she was just the senator of South Carolina before this so when she runs for higher office she can list foreign policy some of her accomplishments as well. She was also very against Trump during the election (she supported Marco Rubio then Ted Cruz) and is seen as a more moderate republican. Here is some information on her legacy at the UN. This is making fun of a theory that Kanye West (yes the Kanye West that is a rapper and married to Kim Kardashian) may replace Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador. This is because Kanye had an ending monologue on SNL this past weekend praising Trump and wearing the signature red MAGA hat. He is also supposed to meet with the president sometime this week. Wouldn't that make politics even more interesting than what they are now. This is about Elizabeth Warren releasing her DNA test that shows she was between 1/32 to 1/1024 Native American. She claimed she was Native American when she applied for a job at Harvard and it is said that she benefited from saying she was a minority. President Trump often would attack her on this, calling her "Pocahontas." Most Americans have that much Native American ancestry if not more. The Saudi's are suspected of killing a Turkish reporter who was critical of the Saudi government. The international community is condoning them, the U.S. senate for the most part want us to stop selling arms to the Saudi government (they are one of our biggest allies in the middle east). The president sent his Secretary of State to investigate this but it seems as though the President is reluctant to punish the Saudi's for this human rights abuse.
