Choose a cultural landscape. Put a photo of it on the map. Write a description of when it was built, why it was built, what materials were used, architecture, design, purpose of the building, etc. It can be famous, rural or urban, historic or postmodern, as long as the natural landscape has been modified by humans.

Machu Picchu was built around the 15th century by the Incas. It's believed to have served as a royal estate or sacred site. The Incas used primarily stone for the construction of Machu Picchu. They carved and fit the stones together without the use of mortar. The architecture of Machu Picchu is truly remarkable, the Incas used a technique called "ashlar masonry" to fit the stones together so precisely. It's incredible how they designed and built such intricate structures without the use of mortar. The site is a testament to their engineering skills and artistic vision. Machu Picchu served multiple purposes for the Incas. It is believed to have been a royal estate, a ceremonial site, and a place of religious significance. The precise purpose of the building is still a topic of discussion among historians and archaeologists, but its grandeur and strategic location suggest that it held great importance in Inca society.

-Keira Taylor
