Funding for staff to support growth and program implementation in communities that can’t afford participation in arts programs


Funding to recruit and sustain high quality candidates. Organizations should not have to work 80 hours a week for the passion of the work. Funding should be available to grow staffing to reflect the work that is happening. Burnout in our field is real and we should not be martyrs for something that is a human right and should be available for all people. We lose passionate leaders and teaching artists because they are unable to sustain the lifestyle.

Engineers don’t beg for grant money to cover the design and construction of a bridge. They are paid for their time to study the bridge needed and generate a proposal for what it will take to complete. Artists contribute just as much to society as engineers. We should be paid for our thinking and design time with the potential greater reward being the final contract.
