This video explains how much it costs the country in order to help/look after obese people which is shocking and even more emotionally. Young people should be active and enjoying their childhood, physical education and physical literacy allows children to learn skills that will stay with them throughout their life and body awareness and how a sedentary lifestyle can lead to comfort eating and depression due to a lack of self esteem if they are at school and in lessons and they feel embarrassed because they are not good at an activity or sport.

This video provides in sight on the many issues related to health and wellbeing for both young people and adults and how this relates to the faults in physical education. There were many shocking facts that people often ignore such as the obesity crisis and issues regarding processed food, Robert even stated how some professionals are unable to provide appropriate teaching of physical education and how if physical literacy was looked at in more detail (for example making tennis simpler for young children so they have a positive first experience of the sport) then progress will be made. Following from this it links to the UK as our country is developed much like Canada and therefore their statistics and issues are not far apart from ours.

In this video, Robert explains the importance of children being physically literate from a very young age. He also includes how important it is for young people and adults to start becoming more physically literate, to increase their health and lifelong fitness, and also to encourage their children to become physically literate from a young age. He includes some facts, such as the percentage of obese people in Canada and what it will increase to in several years time if nothing is done about it. He also includes that the increase in technology and media has and will cause us to have a more sedentary life. This will increase obesity and will cause a lack of physical activity opportunities. Robert also states that parents are still the major influencers as role models, and parents should be encouraging their children to be physically active to lead healthy, fit lives. Robert has made it clear that FMS need to be taught to children from a young age and are essential in developing life long enjoyment and learning within physical activity. If a child, young person or adult is physically literate, this will improve motor skills and coordination development, as well as improving body awareness and body health and greater enjoyment in life. I agree with Robert that schools and parents need to implement FMS as soon as they can, to increase the possibility of them becoming physically literate and competent in physical activity. It is also important that experiences are adjusted to the development to emphasise enjoyment and competency. If we do this, there will be an increase in children and young people taking part in physical activity. Therefore reducing the risk of obesity or other health risks such as diabetes.

This video gave me insight into how important it is to be physically active and to encourage everyone to be physically active, the cheer number of obese people in Canada is astounding and I am sure the numbers would be very similar here and we do not want to live in a world where our life expectancy is shorter from something that we can easily prevent. Furthermore, it gave highlighted how it doesn't only have physical benefits it has social and psychological benefits. Being physically active helps in every aspect of our lives. I especially liked the point that Robert made about giving adults the opportunity to learn physical literacy, we shouldn't put an age range on when we should learn physical literacy it's never too late to change your lifestyle. I also liked the idea of how they made games easier so children has positive first experiences e.g. playing with a bigger tennis ball on small courts with bigger rackets. If we have positive first experiences of sport then we are more likely to carry on participating in that sport.

The video highlighted how important physical literacy is too today's society. The impact that it has on people's health is staggering with 1/3 of 5-17 year olds obese in Canada. This piece of research alone portrays that physical literacy is not properly being implemented in schools. This is because of the reduced emphasise of proper physical education in the school system due to the misjudgement of priority value and perceived cost. Schools don't invest enough money into PE department for them to really have a positive affect on the youth of today. Teaching the basic FUNdamental skills and making lessons fun, enjoyable and progressive the tendencies from this will follow to adulthood. The video also displayed the benefits of physical literacy which are; Physical, Psychological and social. Lastly if we don't show the importance of physical literacy from an early age we will pay the price.

The video has made me realise why Physical literacy is so important. Its something that wasn't pushes or explained very well in years before. Ultimately due to the lifestyle most people live (sedentary lifestyle) country's such as Canada are having lots of people become obese. This doesn't occur just in Canada however it occurs in all countries even our own. Its due to many things such as parents having to work all the time meaning they have no time to take children to clubs or cook a healthy meal for them. Sports clubs can be very expensive so some people just cant take part. The biggest reason is social media and advertisement. Technology is massively important now days but the problem is it promotes both a health lifestyle and bad lifestyle. We should only be promoting healthy options if we want to reduce obesity
