Is compromise essential at the national, state, and local levels of government? Why or why not? How might we all improve our ability to compromise in our own lives? Should we?

4. What is the concept of separation of powers? What is the concept of checks and balances? Are they actually working right now at the national level? How do you know? Use examples to clarify your answers.
