Rome controlled much of the Mediterranean world for 507 years due to the Mediterranean sea being a vital trade link through other parts of the empire, specifically North Africa and the Middle East. The Mediterranean was a well known waterway frequently used by roman sailors as they were quite familiar with the weather patterns. In the Acts of the bible Paul said in front of a crowd that his cultural language was Aramaic. In the early years of the Mediterranean Aramaic was a common language mostly used when trading, exchanging or transporting. The roman empire was mostly made up of polytheistic religions and was accepting of many religions including Egyptian, Hebrew, Greek, Roman, Arab, Christian and islamic cultures. The Mediterranean basin was significant in the evolution of the cultures and influential for understanding the origin of the Mediterranean. People and goods were transported through the Mediterranean sea as it was the most common superhighway for transport, trade and cultural exchange. The mediterranean world was surrounded by several regions and cities including Rome, Italy, Macedonia, Crete, Cyprus, Samaria, Judaea, Jerusalem, Syria, Antioch, Corinth, Achaia, Thessalonica, Philippi, Galatia, Colossae, Laodicea, Ephesus and Asia minor.

The conversion of Saul of Tarsus was very significant in the history of Christianity as it says in Acts 9:1 – 3:6 "he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” After the vision of the resurrected during his journey on the road of Damascus he would be the man to travel extensively to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ beyond Jewish circles, becoming the man known as the Apostle to the Gentiles and to fight heterodoxy.

Paul was inspired to spread the Gospel as a result of his personal conversion and to do that he travelled extensively. During St Pauls 3rd and last missionary journey he first travelled to the congregations that were earlier planted during the time he spent in Galatia on his first journey. Starting in Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening the believers on his journey through Asia. Later arriving in Ephesus, Paul finds and educates believers about baptism. For three months he regularly went to the synagogue and preached Jesus as the Messiah until the Jews refused to believe. After 3 years spent in Ephesus a silversmith is concerned about the decrease in business in crafting idols and starts a brawl within the whole city targeting the concern of St Paul preaching a christian message. Leaving Paul and his friends to deal with an angry crowd.

God and Abraham constructed a convent, making Abraham the father of a significant nation in return. Abraham believed and demanded that prior to becoming a Christian you must be circumcised. This was seen as a common practise for all jewish religion and as Paul spent most of his youth in Tarsus he was circumcised during this time. Becoming a problem for Paul as gentiles were initially introduced into Christianity as the jewish christians adhered to jewish laws. A letter was then written to the Galatians from Saint Paul explaining the importance of Christianity was following Jesus' examples and believing in him, then saying that the circumcision law of Christianity shouldn't exist anymore as it wasn't what is important in Christianity.

In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 it says "4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." This passage means that the holy spirit gives different gifts to God's people so they are not all the same. All these differences are arranged by God, not to separate his people, but instead join them together. No single Christian has all God's gifts or can carry out all God's work. The result is that all Christians need each other to do God's work together but the honour belongs to God alone. This message portrayed in this passage is applicable to us now as everyone isn't the same they are all different and unique in their own way and should use these differences to work together and achieve something great instead of separating yourself from others because you are different.
