         <title>Dignity</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Dignity is the state or quality of being worthy of honour and respect. Its a value in which every individual possesses that is often linked to self worth and self respect. Dignity is also how people treat themselves as well as others and it plays a crucial role in human rights and also ethical considerations. Its also about recognizing the value of one self and others around them regardless of circumstances or status.</p><p>We see dignity through respectful communication. This is shown when someone listens actively to someone speaking kindly to them even during disagreements. This shows that they value the other persons thoughts and feelings.</p><p>When we support others we also show dignity by helping someone in need, whether it could be offering emotional support or assistance as it demonstrates respect and worth of that person.</p><p>Another way we may show dignity is by fair treatment in schools or workplaces making sure we treat everyone equally and without any discrimination, regardless of their background or status.</p><p>As we take care of ourselves and have self respect it reflects our own dignity this may be setting personal boundaries and standing up against disrespectful behaviour.</p><p>Finally we show dignity when we stand up for the rights of groups that are oppressed or marginalised, this shows commitment to recognizing and protecting the dignity of all individuals in our society.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Respect</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Respect is when we show consideration for others whilst recognising their worth, rights and feelings. It involves treating people with kindness, acknowledging their boundaries and valuing their opinions. Respect can be shown when being polite and honouring differences. Its a fundamental aspect of healthy relationships and effective communication.</p><p>When we active listen if someone is talking and give them our full attention whilst not interrupting it shows we value what they have to say.</p><p>If we disagree with someone we should express our opinions respectfully without belittling or dismissing their perspective which shows a polite disagreement demonstrates respect.</p><p>Also when we acknowledge differences by celebrating and valuing, personal or idea logical differences among people it shows respect for their identities and experiences.</p><p>When we respect someone's personal space and honour their boundaries or their decision to not engage in certain activities it reflects an understanding of their comfort.</p><p>Finally we show respect when we offer help to others this may be when we see someone struggling or we offer assistance in a kind and non-intrusive way which shows we care about their wellbeing.    </p>]]></description>

         <title>Safeguarding</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Safeguarding can refer to the measures and actions taken to protect the health, wellbeing, and human rights of individuals, particularly vulnerable groups such as children and adults at risk. It aims to prevent abuse, neglect, and harm while promoting a supportive and safe environment. Implementing policies and practices reduces the risk of harm or abuse and prevent it. Ensuring that individuals who may be at risk receive the necessary support and intervention to keep them safe. When supporting individuals to make informed choices and have control over their own lives empowering them. Collaborating and partnering with relevant agencies and organisations to ensure a co-ordinated approach to safeguarding.</p><p>We see safeguarding being shown in Child Protection Policies in schools as they implement strict policies to ensure the safety of students such as background checks for staff and training on recognising signs of abuse.</p><p>Organisations such as Safe Recruitment Practices conduct through vetting processes for volunteers and employees who work with vulnerable individuals to prevent potential abuse.</p><p>When we use reporting mechanisms it provides clear and accessible ways for individuals to report concerns about abuse or neglect such as designated safeguarding officers or a confidential hotline.</p><p>We also see safeguarding in training and also our awareness this may be regular training sessions for staff on safeguarding issues, whilst ensuring they are able to respond and recognise potential risks.</p><p>Finally we see safeguarding through support services offering counselling for individuals who have experienced some sort of abuse and helping them to regain and recover control over their lives.      </p>]]></description>

         <title>Duty of care</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Duty of care may refer to the ethical and legal obligation of individuals and organisations to ensure well-being and the safety of those that they are responsible for. It involves taking reasonable steps to prevent harm and protect individuals from risks that are associated with their care or services. Recognising that you have a duty shows responsibility as you have to look after the welfare of others in a personal or professional capacity. Being reasonable and taking appropriate actions to prevent harm, which may involve following policies, established guidelines, and the best practices shows duty of care. Showing accountability and being answerable for decisions and actions you take in relation to care for others ensuring that you can justify your choices.</p><p>We see teachers carry out duty of care in educational settings to create a safe learning environment. This includes that classrooms are free from hazards, addressing any bullying behaviour, and supervising students during breaks.</p><p>We also see this  in mental health services for example a counsellor has a duty of carer to provide a safe space for clients to discuss their concerns and feelings. They must also be aware of any signs of distress and take the appropriate actions like referring the service user to additional support if needed.</p><p>Finally we also see this during public transport, bus drivers for example have a duty of care to ensure the safety of passengers whilst following traffic laws and maintaining the vehicle as well as assisting passengers with disabilities as they board and exit.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Person centred approach</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p> A person centred approach is a way of providing support and care that focuses on an individuals unique preferences and needs as well as experiences. This approach emphasises the importance of understanding the person as a whole and rather than their diagnosis or condition. Treating individuals with respect and recognising their worth can show respect and dignity towards the person. Encouraging individuals to take an active role in their own decision making and care processes shows empowerment. Individualised care is showing you are determined to meet the specific needs and preferences of a persons life including social, emotional and physical factors. Collaborating with the individual involving them and their family and other caregivers in the planning and delivery of care shows a person centred approach.</p><p>In healthcare personalised care plans may be made my doctors and the patients work with their doctor to create this so it reflects their specific health goals, lifestyle choices, and preferences for treatment. </p><p>We also see a person centred approach in supportive environments such as a care setting, staff could encourage residents to decorate their rooms with photographs, personal items, crating a safe space that feels familiar and comforting.</p><p>In educational settings, teachers may offer students choices in their learning activities, allowing them to pursue topics that could or already interest them and engage in ways that suit their needs and individual learning styles.</p><p>We also see this approach by active listening, caregivers can practice active listening by taking the time and patience to understand a persons preferences and concerns whilst ensuring that their voice is heard in decision making about their care.</p><p>Finally family involvement in healthcare is important during discussions about a patients care and how it can help ensure that the support provided is necessary and aligns with the individuals wishes and values.</p><p> </p>]]></description>

         <title>Confidentiality</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Confidentiality refers to the legal and ethical duty to protect private information shared by individuals, ensuring that it is not disclosed to unauthorised parties. this concept is particularly important in fields like law, healthcare , and education where sensitive information about a persons personal matters health and legal matters is often shared. Individuals have the right to privacy and to keep their personal information private and to b able to control who has access to it. Before sharing information, individuals should be informed about how their data will be used and give their consent. Professionals and organisations are responsible for implementing measures to protect confidential information from unauthorised access or breaches. There are certain situation such as when there is a risk of harm to others or oneself, where confidentiality may need to be breached to ensure safety.</p><p>We may see confidentiality in therapy sessions as a therapist keeps the details of their sessions private and only discusses the case with colleagues in a professional setting ensuring the clients personal issues and identity are protected.</p><p>A lawyer must keep all information shared by the client confidential, discussing case details only with authorised personnel or in court, unless the client potentially gives their permission to share.</p><p>We also see confidentiality in a school setting due to school records as a school must protect students educational records sharing the information about a students behaviour or performance only with authorised individuals such as teachers or parents when necessary.</p><p>Finally, a bank ensures that customer account details are kept confidential and only sharing information in compliance with privacy laws. </p>]]></description>
