In fact, when he was becoming an inventor,  he taught at tuskegee in 1896! He was most famous for making countless products from peanuts, Including the well-loved product peanut butter! But, it wasn't just peanut butter. He made paints,  dyes cosmetics etc. Could you imagine making stuff like that, with peanuts?     Facts: 1. He played a big role in helping the Underground Railroad in Albany,NY. 2. During the Civil War Elkins was a medical examiner. 3.In 1880 the N.Y.A.S (new york agricultre society) awarded Elkins a certificate for/of "Highest Merit" for his idea (Chamber Commode)
Elkins passed away at the age of 82 in 1900.
