We have meals together and invite friends to join in our festivities. Through such small efforts in our daily lives, we are able to better understand and appreciate the heritage, culture and practices of our fellow countrymen and strengthen our bonds as Singaporeans. Going out with a 1 year old and a 3 year old on public transport with loads of baby gear and a stroller had been something I am accustomed to (but never quite got over how demanding it can be). But the challenge was LEVEL-UP when I had to cross an overhead bridge which was connected to a building on one side (no need to climb up), but with stairs on the other end. I was making my way down the bridge, with many people passing me by with awkward looks - carrying my baby, my toddler walking down by herself, a bagpac on my shoulder and hand carrying the stroller! A couple (whose wife was pregnant) who was on their way up the bridge offered help in a most kind and thoughtful manner. The man brought my stroller down, and made sure my toddler made her way down safely before he went back up the bridge to join his wife. Thank you, stranger, from me and my girls.

I often fail to remember that for most people, their first day in any new environment is important and can be rather nerve-wracking.

Was waiting for a cab along the road and saw this young man cutting my queue. Taxi uncle didn't drive off coz he saw me in a distance and (though I couldn't hear what he said to the young man), told him to alight from the cab and signal me to board it. Simple kind gesture to a good start of my long weekend. Thank you both. :)

Last weekend I went to Trick Eye museum with my family. While making our payment at the box office, I clumsily left my phone on the counter and we left the counter without realising it. My family and I headed to the Food Market for lunch and I had no idea that my phone was not with me.

A man queuing behind us noticed a phone on the counter and assumed that it belonged to someone in our family. He had to forgo his queue just to chase up to us, with his ticket not even bought! Thank you stranger for passing my phone back to me. My carelessness caused you to step out of your queue and you didn't have anyone queuing for you. There were photos in it which I couldn't have lived without, so thank you so much!

During the school holidays, my family are usually away on a holiday. Therefore, there is no one to keep an eye on our house and water the plants. However, my kind neighbour helped to keep an eye on the house and also helped in watering the plants. Small actions made by them really meant a lot to my family. And in return. we will buy souvenirs as a form of thank you and appreciation. We need to help our neighbours in order to have a safe and peaceful neighbourhood.

Special shout out to Raymond, ITE IT's support team and our go-to guy when our laptop is faced with a problem that cannot be solved by us at our mortal levels! :D I was having issues with my personal laptop and was tinkering with it at work. Rather than going all regimental on me, he was kind enough as to offer assistance in taking a look at diagnosing my poor laptop's condition. After 'diagnosis', it was confirmed that my laptop has a failed hard disk which requires a transplant surgery in the form of a new hard disk. Thanks to his advice and timely intervention, I was able to back up all my precious, (high level security) info and get my laptop back in operational mode in ultra swift time. Thanks Raymond! You definitely need not go the extra mile but the fact that you chose to is humbling and heartwarming indeed!

Nowadays, it's rather rare to see kind gestures being acknowledged. In fact, some kind gestures such as

complimenting people are being accounted as flirting. However, i'd always ignore that misconception and always compliment and praise most of my friends or even strangers because everyone deserves being appreciated and they deserve feel good about themselves. Even a simple, "You look good today"would make someone's day a whole lot better than it already is. Even smiling at someone could brighten up their day. Therefore, i strongly encourage everyone to praise, compliment or even smile at your friends,family or even strangers more frequently because it doesnt cost you anything yet it would make a huge difference. Afterall, it's a chain reaction, once you feel good about yourself, you would naturally be more happier and would spread on the positivity.

Last week, i witnessed a group of volunteers distributing flyers to the residents to inform them about the donation drive that will be held during the weekends, they went around the neighbourhood to collect recycled materials such as clothes to be donated to the needy. It shows that they care and want to show their concern towards the needy by organizing and volunteering themselves. Simple actions that they do to change the lives of the needy.

I remembered when a few months ago, I was going home from shopping with my friends. It was raining cats and dogs that night. I had forgotten to bring an umbrella with me so I had to use my backpack to cover me in the rain. As I was crossing the traffic light, a young lady came up to me from behind and shared her umbrella with me. I was totally speechless by her actions because she was the only one who was kind enough to do that instead of the others who were crossing the traffic light. She eventually accompanied me to my block and my clothes were not really soaked that night. Thank you, the umbrella lady for being nice and kind by offering to share your umbrella with me. We need more people like you in the society.

I remembered during my secondary school days, my friends and I never fail to always smile and greet "good morning" and "goodbye" to the security guards and the feeling we get when they smile back and greet us back is amazing. I think that them having to wake up early to open the school gates and having to wait for all students and teachers to leave the school and close the school gates is very tiring and so by greeting and smiling at them shows that we appreciate their efforts in protecting our school. My friends and I are really thankful for the security guards in our school.

Sometimes people think that kindness is literally based on actions, what we do. However, words could also be another factor of kindness. Words can make someone feel appreciated, sad or happy. Just words such as "Thank you!" when someone does a favour is an act of kindness. Greeting someone with a happy, cheerful smile could make someone's day.
