         <title>Formative Assessment #1</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Think-Pair-Share</strong><br>- The teacher would ask a question and have the students write their responses on a piece of paper. Then they would get into pairs and discuss their answers. The teacher can walk around and hear all the students responses.<br>-<strong>Strength</strong>: A student has a lot less pressure sharing to a partner rather than sharing in front of an entire class.<br>-<strong>Weaknesses</strong>: It's easy for the students to talk about things other than the topic. Students also might alter their answers due to their partner's response. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #2 <br>Kahoot</strong><br>- This is an online quiz that works as a game for the whole class. A question pops up on the screen and on your device you press the answer on your phone. You are given a certain amount of time to answer and after the question it gives a poll as to how many people answered with what answers. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> you are able to see the how the whole class is answering and you are able to see how many people answered. So if people are not using the device properly, you will know<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> This does require a device so you would either need a computer or tablet to do. It doesn't tell you who answered what so knowing which students need help is impossible. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #3<br>Exit Ticket</strong><br>- In order to transition to the next activity or leave, the students must write down on a piece of paper the main idea of the lesson that day. <br>-<strong>Strength:</strong> You are able to see what students were actually paying attention and understood what you just taught them. If a student can't think of what to write down, they weren't paying good enough attention.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> It is easy to copy a neighbor's paper or knew what the topic of the lesson was but didn't actually pay attention throughout the lesson. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #4 <br>Admit Ticket</strong><br>- This is essentially the same thing as an exit ticket but instead it is at the beginning of the day, almost like a warm up. You can assess the students on if they remember the material from the day before or by giving them a question from their homework to see if they did it. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> You are able to see if the students understood and remembered the material from the day before. Some students go home and don't look at the information again till the next day, so it can be used as a warm up as well. <br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> If you did this during the morning work, students would able to collaborate or understand it was from their homework and pull it out. I think this would be most effective during instructional time. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #5<br>Stop and Go</strong><br>- Student have a card on their desk and one side is red and one side is green. Throughout your lesson, the students will change the color on their cards based on if they are understanding the lesson or not. If they are confused, they flip it to red. <br><strong>-Strength: </strong>If a student is confused they don't have to speak in front of the whole class with their concerns. Also it is a nonverbal.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Some students may not feel comfortable flipping their card in class if no one else has flipped theirs. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #6<br>KWL Chart</strong><br>-This is a Know, Want, Learn Chart. It is broken up into 3 columns and students write what they knew about the subject in the Know column, what they still want to know in the Want column and what they just learned in the Learn column. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> You can see what background knowledge the students have about this topic. <br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> If students are not serious about the chart, the teacher wouldn't be getting accurate information about the students. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Summative Assessment #1</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>End of Unit Test <br></strong>- At the end of a unit, students would be tested on that unit alone. This would be something they would have their book to be able to study from and what the past few weeks would have been focusing on. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> You would be able to assess the students knowledge from that unit alone. It would be easy to see what parts of the units the student's didn't understand. <br><strong>- Weakness:</strong> It can be a lot of material to study for at once and depending on how long the unit is, they will have forgotten some of the beginnings lessons. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #2<br>End of Unit Project </strong><br>-The students create a project at the end of a unit to show and apply what they have learned. <br><strong>-Strength: </strong>Every student's project is unique to them and their learning style. Students will know so much about what they do the project on afterwards.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Takes a lot of time in class. Some students might not have the resources at home to complete this. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #3<br>End of Quarter Grades</strong><br>-At the end of a quarter a letter grade represents their understanding of a particular subject.<br><strong>-Strength: </strong>Students are able to know their own ability of the subject and can do better the next quarter.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Some grades may not reflect a student's actual understanding of a subject. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #4<br>Book Report</strong><br>-Students read an entire book and write a paper or make an end product showcasing their understanding of the book they read.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Great way to see a student's creativity and can ready about something they enjoy.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Depending on the grade and reading level, some students may not be at a level where they can fully read and comprehend a book. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #5<br>Presentation</strong><br>-Students make a powerpoint or some sort of product to present in front of the class about their knowledge of a subject. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Students must be able to know and understand the material to present it and become more aware of the information while creating the presentation.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Takes a lot of class time and some students may not have access to materials to make a presentation.<br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #6<br>Essay</strong><br>-Students complete an essay about a certain topic and their knowledge of it. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Students have to research and fully understand the material to know what to write about.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> It can take a lot of class time and students can just look things up if they are confused.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>3-2-1</strong><br>- After the lesson, the students write down 3 things they didn't know before the lesson, 2 things you already knew, and 1 thing you wish you had learned. <br>-<strong>Strength:</strong> You are able to see the students background knowledge of the topic, what the students understood from the lesson, and one thing you can address in another lesson. <br>-<strong>Weakness:</strong> Some students might not have any background knowledge of the subject. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #8<br>Whiteboards</strong><br>-All of the students have whiteboards and the teacher will ask a question and the students write down their thoughts or answers on the whiteboard and hold it up for the teacher to see.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> It is quick and easy but an efficient way to really see what students are understanding the material and which aren't.<br><strong>-Weakness: </strong>If students are sitting at tables, they can easily write down what the person next to them wrote or look around the room when people hold theirs up. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #9<br>Google Docs</strong><br>-With an electronic device, students can answer questions on a quiz like set up and students won't know a score or anything.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Teacher can see who answered what and what students are struggling based on who answered what. <br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Students might collaborate or not all students would have this technology available. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #10<br>Self Assessment </strong><br>-Allowing the students to assess their own work instead of the teacher. <br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Students can see their own setbacks and understand what they need to work on. <br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Some students might not be honest in their evaluations or take it seriously. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #11<br>Class Discussion</strong><br>-Students talk as a class about the things they have been learning and can answer their own peer's questions.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Students are able to hear information in other ways besides the teacher's and are able to openly talk about their questions or concerns.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Some students may not participate so they wouldn't be getting anything out of this. <br><br><strong>Formative Assessment #12<br>Jeopardy </strong><br>-Teacher sets up a game of jeopardy and the students get into teams and compete with subject based questions and earn extra points or candy. This is normally used as a review.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Students get involved since it is a game and want to win. It is a good way to review. <br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Since it would be on a computer, you would have to have access and things with technology can always happen. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Summative Assessment #7</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>End of Course Test </strong><br>-At the end of a class, the students take a standardized test at the end of the year to test what they learned from the entire course. Normally this is state wide, so the entire grade across the state takes the same test.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> You are able to see your class' scores against the state averages and what you need to spend more time on the next year. <br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> Most of the time, the teachers are just supposed to cover all of the curriculum and have no idea what will be on the EOCT. This can be hard when trying to prepare your students for this test. <br><br>Summative Assessment #8<br>AR Test<br>-Students read an entire book and the AR website has remade quizzes available for the books and students answer comprehension questions about what they read.<br>-Strength: Some students become competitive about AR levels and read more often to get more points. It also shows a way to see if the students are comprehending what they read.<br>-Weakness: These kind of quizzes are online and some students may not have access to a computer.<br><br>Summative Assessment #9<br>Portfolio<br>-Students make a portfolio all about the subject the project is on and write about everything you need to know about the topic.<br>-Strength: Students become very knowledgable in the topic.<br>-Weakness: Students may not have internet access or be able to do research at home.<br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #10<br>Perfomance</strong><br>-Students put together a skit about what they learned and their opinions about the topic.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> A fun way for students to be creative and show what they have learned.<br><strong>-Weakness: </strong>Some students are shy and would not be as involved as other students. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #11<br>Venn Diagram</strong><br>-You give students two different topics and they compare and contrast them into different sections.<br><strong>-Strength:</strong> Students become aware of both of these topics and are able to describe them and say how they are different from one another.<br><strong>-Weakness: </strong>Some students may not know how to do a venn diagram or be knowledgable in both subjects to fill out the whole chart. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #12<br>Short Answer Test</strong><br>-The teacher gives the students short answer questions that they must use their own words to describe what the question is asking.<br><strong>-Strength: </strong>A student must be very knowledgable about a subject to answer these kinds of questions.<br><strong>-Weakness:</strong> The questions must be made to where students have some sort of idea of what it is talking about. Students who struggle with taking tests would not do well with this. <br><br><strong>Summative Assessment #13<br>Rubrics</strong><br>-Rubrics are often associated with an assignment. This gives clear instructions of what is expected of students in the assignment.<br><strong>-Strengths:</strong> Clear expectations of the assignment and what should be done.<br><strong>-Weaknesses:</strong> These can be vague in depending on what is being graded.</div>]]></description>
