The curse-Shadow

An ancient curse meant to prevent anyone from getting the phoenix gem. It uses the structures around it to form a body around it's core.

The manticore - mentor

The manticore works as a server in a restaurant. She used to help hero's with treasure maps. she tells Ian and barley about the map, but forgets to tell the m about the curse.

Barley-mentor / ally

Barley is Ian's older brother and is obsessed with magic. (He can't, however do any). When they find out Ian can do magic Barley tries his best to teach him from a book from his game.

Laurel (ian&barley's mom)-Ally

Laurel lightfoot is both who introduces the magic staff and gem to Ian and Barley but also one that helps them fight the curse at the end of the movie.
