Canadian Families are better today than they were in the past because family structures have become more diverse, allowing more options for different families to form. The major shift of the ideal nuclear family has caused society to alter widespread beliefs and values. Ideally, this has helped society understand that families can be complex and dynamic and has aided to reform institutions such as education, religion, media, politics and culture.
