  • Gay marriage in Canadian society changes the way we need to view activities that were once seen as gender-specific. For example: a father teaching his son how to shave.
  • The changes in gender roles allows women to no longer be dependent on their husbands, which increases the amount of single-income families.
  • The amount of two-parent households has began to decline, which makes way for different family structures. 
  • Divorce, remarriage, and cohabitation are examples of different family structures that are much more likely to occur today.
