Conformity was common, as young and old alike followed group norms rather than striking out on their own. Though men and women had been forced into new employment patterns during World War II, once the war was over, traditional roles were reaffirmed.<br><strong>The dawn of the cold war:</strong> <br>During world war two, the United States and the Soviet Union fought together as allies. However, the relationship between the two nations was a tense one. Americans had been wary of Soviet communism and concerned about Russian leader. After the war ended, these grievances ripened into an overwhelming sense of mutual distrust and enmity. <br><strong>Civil rights movement:</strong><br>The civil rights movement was a struggle for social justice that took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law in the United States.<br><br></div>]]></description>
