I didn't get a great look at the training timeline, but generally speaking, there will be training for new mentors which is more comprehensive, then annual "refresh" training for returning mentors to comply with the annual training requirement in HB 2?

The proposed timelines resonate with me as the ongoing training is helpful to keep mentors "on track" with TMT competencies. On years when TMT is not required - a webinar library related to each competency would be a valuable resource.

I think a three hour update would be sufficient. I don't foresee there should be a bunch of new info to have a training that is much longer than a few hours.

Since they have already received the bulk of the training. I would recommend a 2 hour refresher course with built in time for Q&A and suggestions.

There needs to be some alignment statewide on this, but the design also needs to meet the needs of each district per region. Perhaps online training and quarterly regional check-ins?

I believe 1/2 day training at least for the teacher mentors would be sufficient for the years between the TMT training.

I think it should be optional to participate in the "full" training every year if desired. The training could be recommended/required by a supervisor or by the mentor teacher.

As we are using our mentor teachers to build capacity in our beginning teachers, the mentor training is also building their capacity. Having some targeted training for them in "refresher" years could be focused on topics like coaching conversations, or looking into Pathway 2 training for them, so they could take on the oversight of campus mentorship and sustainability.

Differences in supporting a Year 1 teacher vs a Year 2 teacher.

Is there potential to build capacity with our Mentor Teachers in those refresher years by guiding them through some of the areas of Pathway 2 as a "GYO" Mentor Leadership path? I see it as them taking on the day-to-day of mentorship oversight for their campus to truly build sustainability.

A slide was shared in our Inform Deck about reasons our novice teachers feel unprepared, working with our students with disabilities or Emergent Bilinguals, meeting professional responsibilities, establishing positive learning environments, etc. While our Pathway 1 does a great job of covering these topics. Is there an opportunity for "workshops" that go into more detail with best practices, etc?

Mentor Teacher Qualifications - Will districts be provided a rubric that they may use to score potential candidates? Will districts have a Mentor Teacher committee that will review and select these Mentor Teachers?

Will there be a yearly review to stamp that these selected Mentor Teachers are still meeting these requirements?

Mentor Teacher Training Completion - I am interested in learning more about the training - it is not specifically stated "in person" but I believe it should be. (Not remote or hybrid).

Duties of a Mentor Teacher - May there please be a Mentor Teacher Online Journal to reflect their work - this being available to both the district leadership and the TMT Fellow? - Great use for follow up questions, feedback, clarification, etc.

District Duties related to Mentoring Time, Schedule and Logistics. - - Clearly aligned in the paperwork given to each fellow so that each campus is delineated as to the process of mentorship time, scheduling and logistics.

Mentor teachers would be earning $20.83/hr for a minimum of 24 hours of training and at least 24 hours of support for the new teacher. We have difficulty with teachers teaching summer school at $30/hr. Is this too much to expect for $1000?
