This week, we discussed the properties and classification of matter, as well as Dalton's Atomic Theory.

We were lectured in detail the chemical and physical properties of matter, and how to classify them into elements and compounds. We also reviewed. on mixtures: heterogeneous and homogeneous, suspensions, colloids, and solutions. As for Dalton's Atomic Theory, we learned about his postulates—the law of conservation of mass, law of definite proportions, and law of multiple proportions.

I enjoyed the lessons a lot, this being my first year in the Chemistry course and thus quite eager for a hopefully bright year ahead of me.

Our lesson focused on naming and writing formulas of inorganic chemicals.

For our synchronous class, Ma'am Carren arranged special games for the whole class. Regretfully, I wasn't very active and only managed to snag only 1 point for myself. Even so, the lesson was very engaging and an adept strategy to deepen my understanding of the lesson. It was a refreshing take, and I hope that there will be more activities.

Today was all about chemical nomenclature, and it's usefulness for budding chemists.

On the topic, we spoke on differentiating organic and inorganic compounds, names and formulas of ionic compounds, naming acids, and binary molecular compounds. It was a lengthy but insightful discussion. I'm only thankful that Ma'am Carren allows us to look at the periodic table during class and activities, or else I fear I wouldn't last.

Chemistry is quickly becoming one of my favorite subjects, and I look forward to our synchronous classes all week.

Our discussion was about writing and balancing chemical equations.

We started off with a Kahoot game, and progressed towards the lesson of chemical reaction and chemical equations. I learned about the parts of a chemical equation, and how to write them. I now know how to convert a word equation into chemical equation, and chemical equations into word problems. We also spoke about atomic weight and moles in chemical reactions, and balancing them. We exercised our newfound knowledge with practice questions that we answered as a class.

As any other week, our synchronous session was fun and engaging.
