I tested in the top 1% and was placed into a gifted and talented program as a young student. Math was far and away my favorite subject. As a 3rd grader, my teacher noticed how bored and frustrated I was with the slow pace of the class and ended up allowing me to sit at the back of the room during math lessons and work at my own pace. I finished the book by the third month and finished the fourth grade book by the end of the school year.
By seventh grade, I was taking high school math and finished all the math classes offered at my high school by tenth grade. 
I still enjoy working math problems and often impress people with my analytical talents. As I look ahead to the path I have stepped onto, I am nervous.
I wonder how well I will handle the workload. How well can I merge all of my skills together into becoming an effective teacher? And, will I stay committed?
I have decided to tune out of all the voices that say this is a fool's errand, a snipe hunt with no reward.
I have to remind myself of the vision and be patient, as I have only a vision of what this path will unfold.
I am going into this pursuit with the best intentions and limited understanding of what the final result will yield.
Can I make it?
