The most rewarding part of teaching English and Literature this year was seeing students fall in love with the subjects and truly make it their own. I was really grateful to see that students were inspired by practices in class to pursue their own projects (e.g. writing short stories or research projects). It showed me that students can grow exponentially with the right resources and time.

Sorry am a practicum teacher so I'll refer to my tutoring work, but I think always the most rewarding part of teaching is building a relationship with the students -- finding out about them, learning about their interests and background, putting thought into little gifts/activities for them... they do see the effort you put in, and they do appreciate it! It's made me prioritise relationship-building in my teaching practice. No significant learning without a significant relationship!

Watching them iron out the kinks in their behaviour throughout the year, and learn to work together with me and their classmates was particularly heartwarming for me.

Teaching practice wise, this has really helped shaped my teaching identity as I struggled with that in the beginning of last year.

In terms of rewarding part when it comes to teaching my subject, I was particularly proud of them when they (finally haha) started using the techniques for essay writing I kept drilling in class. I also enjoyed watching my students start to enjoy Literature!

1 of my classes struggle with fundamental concepts, and each student has different learning needs. I find it very important to customise my lessons based on their level of readiness, and to prioritise this over the anxiety to cover the syllabus sufficiently. After all, we will have to prepare our students for the future and their future outlook looks quite different from ours. It is unreasonable to expect them to do the same things just so that they can excel academically.

The most rewarding part of teaching English will be the times I set aside to intentionally co-construct with my students. Having been a teacher for a number of years, i always find it important to keep reinventing myself regularly and that includes keeping myself updated on the current educational trends, backed by research. In this regard, i find that the co-construction phase in process writing to be incredibly exciting as it empowers the students. I take my students through the metacognitive process of writing through my role modeling and think alouds and elicit rich response from them. The environment is also usually very affirmative during this stage so that my students feel supported and are not intimidated. The end product; be it a completed introductory or body paragraph is always much appreciated and loved by all students. It becomes a rich resource they often refer to and remember as something jointly created by the class. This is what I find to be one of the highlights in my EL classes
