Childhood obesity and excess weight are significant health issues for individual children, their families and public health. It can have serious implications for the physical and mental health of a child, which can then follow on into adulthood. The numbers of children who continue to have an unhealthy and potentially dangerous, weight, is a national public health concern.

The campaign aims to provide a first hand support for parents who may be worried that their child is overweight and are at a risk of obesity. Recent research tell us that 1 in 5 children in England is overweight or obese. The campaign main focus is to educate and create awareness on the benefits for children to eat healthy and keep active. We all want our children to grow up to be happy, healthy adults, but it can sometimes be hard to know how to encourage children to eat smart and move more. It also aimed to encourage our schools authorities to do more to help children eat well, move more and live longer.

The writer emphasise early prevention to help manage childhood overweight/obesity risk with infants.
