Comparing the cartoon and the short story

The cartoon talks about immigrants in the USA and the story talks about a family form China that moved to the USA. The relation between them is that both talk about immigrants, but in the cartoon the situation is way more superficial than what happens in real life. The language in the cartoon is more visual and in the short story there is more elaborate.

The Sniper, is a short story about a Republican sniper during the Irish Civil War. He is hiding on a rooftop in Dublin at night, watching for enemies.

He gets hungry and lights a cigarette, but then an enemy sniper shoots at him, hitting his arm. To trick the enemy, he pretends to be dead and then shoots the enemy sniper.

Afterward, he feels sad about what he did. When he checks the enemy's body, he realizes he has killed his own brother. This shows how war can destroy families and lives.

This cartoon illustrates (on an ironic way) how the Americans care for the immigrants. Even though they let some of them into their country, they don't worry about how they will get by. The immigrants suffer a lot, from lack of concern of their lives, discrimination and more.
