Yes, but open book. I think its important to test how students can apply what they have learnt, and not make it about how well a student can memorise BUT how well they can apply what they have learnt, with the knowledge near to them (ie: open book).

At the end of the day, we also need to see the type of job. Doctors deal with fast paced situations, and yes they need to memorise and know at the tip of their fingers. Some jobs like, marketing, advertising, lawyers (lawyers prepare before hand, so they need to learn how to research and find where the information can be found).

In between, we need to consider factors such as their mental health, which can affect their ability to sit down for an assessment due to many factors, such as anxiety. Yet, it does not indicate their lack of intelligence. This is one example; it is an endless discussion.

yes and no. if academic No, for young kids however the teacher can do assessments using the class time like quiz, etc but not for exams. . yes for older students.

Yes. it a effective tool for doing through knowledge checks. They can discover gaps in their knowledge and where to focus on which difficulty topic. It also can help students set their goal and work smart and hard to achieve their goal. If they fail, they can re-sit again the exam do better due to get experience and knowledge from the previous experience.

exams are good for students regardless of their age to see what they have gained from learning. also to see what the students' capacity. it also help students learn to self-discipline from being diligent on learning all the concepts throughout school. its stressful but its sets them for their future (depends! hehe) but from there, they know they have the skills to go far
