Sometimes having a book that is a "mirror" is key to creating a lasting connection because it provides evidence that similar children exist and shows that they do, in fact, have a voice and a place in stories. I am here to broaden my own viewpoint so that I might assist some young people in broadening theirs.  I want to teach people to learn to read and understand ideas so that they might be culturally literate.  I want to share my love of reading by lighting a spark in the children that I teach.  Why am I doing this?  Because it needs to be done and I want to be a part of it!
