In my third unit, I’ve inquired into the history discipline through the central idea, “Learning about past civilisations helps us understand the present.”

The unit was explored through the following lines of inquiry:

  • the characteristics of civilizations and societies  (Form)
  • civilisations have changed over time  (Causation)
  • connections between past and present (Connection)


During this unit of inquiry I’ve gathered evidence to showcase my understanding of the Learner Profile attributes: knowledgeable inquirers. I have developed my thinking and gained new knowledge throughout this unit. In particular I have learned much more about the history concepts of: change, civilizations, history, innovation, and progress.   • Shapes and designs used to build strong and stable structures. (connection)
  • The influence of forces on design features. (causation)

During this unit of inquiry, I’ve gathered evidence to showcase my understanding of the Learner Profile attribute:Thinkers. Take a look at the ways I have shown how I’ve developed these attributes and can now demonstrate how I am a thinker.



I have continued to work on my thinking skills in particular application and evaluation. In this unit I have learned much more about, and gained new understanding of the science concepts: materials, forces, gravity, design and structures.
