Rationale/Justification for how this sessions relate to - Your own A2?

Experience 1 -

Going on a walk around the lake and encouraging the children to add a game of “Eye spy” – to see what they can see.

Theoretical perspective -

Class Session 2

Frances Group

29/08/24

Movement is a way to express one’s self and their current thoughts and feelings, words without language.

Movement is a fundamental aspect of life.

Dance is expressive art that connects with physical movements with creativity.

Reflection - What went as expected?

The children really were able to understand the way our bodies move.

When we began our walk I asked them to play Eye Spy.

Tell me what you can see here at the Lake…

What did not go as expected?

The game could have gone on for hours, they didn’t want to leave.

I took some bread to feed the animals.

What might you do differently next time?

Positive/Negative

Think of other ideas of other games we could come up with.

How might you use this growth in your future practice of ECE?

As a future teacher I know that physical activity plays an important role in the growth and development of young children. It helps children develop motor skills, improves their physical health, and promotes mental and emotional development.

Music and movement stimulate creativity and imagination in young minds. Through imaginative play, where children interpret music through movement, they develop their storytelling abilities and expand their cognitive flexibility.

Music and movement activities engage multiple senses and areas of the brain, making them ideal for stimulating creativity. They encourage children to express themselves in different ways, whether through dance, rhythm, or song.

I understand how this all inter relates to music and drama also. This can also allow us to reinvent ourselves and look at things from different perspectives.

Movement/Dance = Joy/Creativity.

(Your Early Learning Centre 2024 - https://yourelc.com.au/music-movement-early-childhood)

By pretending to be someone or something else, children can learn new ways to express themselves, share thoughts and ideas, and even get in touch with their feelings.

To perform a play means to use drama to act out a performance.

As a future teacher – I know that drama can assist children – to use their imagination, solve problems, creatively, express themselves emotionally, and develop their language and social skills.

https://www.pennfoster.edu/blog/benefits-of-dramatic-play-in-ece 2024.

My perspective has been enlightened by engaging in this unit.

The language of temporal arts I have come across to learn about the unit has been thought provoking and has encouraged me to see it as a whole.

I feel that I understand more in depth, about how Sound Movement and Drama can all be inter connected and how they can benefit both Educators and Children.

Children need relationships between dance, music and movement. Music (Sound) can help children develop holistically.

Movement is being able to instill knowledge to the children that its fundamental to their wellbeing.

Drama is a form of storytelling and a way to express feelings in different ways.

The unit has made me feel more open to learning and engaging in different aspects such as sound movement and drama.
