Violet had a hot, miserable night thinking it would be cooler in the Hermitage, where you didn't even have to pay for the fan. Violet had an idea. She woke up next to Chloe and suddenly noticed a young woman walking around the room, she assumed it was Miss Lewis who Chloe said had the other bed. Violet sprang out of bed and eating Grape-Nuts got dressed as fast as she could and ran out to the train station but Miss Lewis stopped her and insisted she should eat some Grape-Nuts first. after finishing she immediately went to the train station. Violet saw two hoboes that looked like they just got off a train, she didn't think much of it but Violet heard one of them call her name and realized that it was Myrtle and Mr. Martin. It turns out that Mr. Martin was on top of the train and made it look like he jumped. But then the desk clerk yelled to get Myrtle away from the hotel, so they went to go find a hotel that allows colored people.
