Space is a vacuum therefore sound cannot carry because molecules aren't close enough to transmit sound. We've discovered about 3% of space. The andromeda galaxy is currently travelling about 250,000 miles per hour on a collision course with the milk way but it will take billions of years. Travelling this far is unfathomable let alone travelling in space.
