The Estates General was the Public Class of Society where there were three classes. The 1st estate was mostly made up of clergy/ church and was the highest on the social ladder. They only made up about one percent of the population and the 1st and 2nd estate's were not required to pay taxes. They owned approximately ten percent of the total land in France. The 2nd estate were nobles who held jobs in the government, army, and or navy. The nobles were about ten percent of the population. The 3rd estate was struggling to pay for food and other necessities due to the fact that they were paying all the taxes. This system was unfair because the wealthy did not have to pay taxes, there was limited land because the 1st and 2nd estate owned most of it and the 3rd estate was always beat by two to one. The National Assembly was representation based on population. It was supposed to represent the people of France in a better way. It was supposed to make things fair and equal. They upper estates did not like this because they had previously had all the power and saying in the government, the National Assembly prevented them from abusing their power or voice in the French government. The 3rd estate created this because they wanted a consitutional monarchy. The king was forced to give oath to not disband until a constitution for the free people of France was written. This helped create the National Assembly.

During this time Marie Antoinette was in shambles after her husband Louis XVI was figuring out how to solve the issue. Marie grew sad and lonely looking for someone to companion her during her hard and difficult times. There she stumbled across a dashing and handsome man named Count Fersen. The first impressions were magnificent for them both, there was a spark. And with the encouragement of her friend, Duchesse De Polignca, her and Count Fersen's relationship blossoms.

The Storming of the Bastille happened on July of 1786. This was when the people of France went into the Bastille demanding their monarchs to come outside. The people of France were scared because they did not want the National Assembly (1789 - 1791 : representation based on population) to dissolve. The commoners of France felt as if Louis XVI was violating their rights. The women of France also believed that Marie Antoinette was stashing all the bread of France and this angered them even more. They didn't like the Queen because of her old spending habits. They thought that she was a very bad ruler and that she was not worthy of the throne before and after she became Queen of France. They took Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette from the Palace and found them guilty of treason. What the people of France did was reasonable. Their monarch's refused to listen to their cries for help. They had every right to do so since they had given their monarch's various different times to redeem themselves and have a chance to be forgiven. Their second attempt at a government with a monarch was called the Legislative Government (1791- 1792 : government tried to keep the people happy and the king happy . Contitutional Monarchy). The goal or idea was that King Louis XVI will work with the people of France in order to become more like a Constitutional Monarchy. The issue with this is that their ruler, Louis XVI was untrustworthy after his attempt to leave and come back and take France over again and make it a Absolute Monarchy again. They decided to get rid of their monarch all together, however they had never had a government without a monarchy before. After the execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, Robespierre, a "trustworthy" representative of the people leads France into the 1st Republic (1793- 1795 : The First Republic was for the people and government in charge of executing king Louis XVI) . The goal for the 1st Republic was to support the people of France. However, the once "uncorruptable", became corrput with all the power he had which caused the Reign of Terror where 70,000 people were killed by the guillotine. The people of France realized he had way too much power for himself. France was supposed to become a republic but instead became a dictatorship. At some point the military overthrows him and he is put to death by the guillotine.

Marie Antoinette was hated by her people and with all her other struggles she isolated herself from all others. A while after her husbands death, she was executed by the Guillotine and died with a quick slice of the head.

The Directory ( 1795- 1799 : Contained an upper house and a lower house. Lower house, who proposed legislativefor the government. The upper house who accpet or veto what was proposed by the lower house) contains a upper and lower house. The lower house makes the rules and the upper house decided if it is fair or not. The upper house gets to accept or veto what was pressented to them by the lower house. The issue with this is that they were struggling as a country and didn't have stablility and most of their officals were corrupt. All of the governments were overthrown to make way for a new ruler. Napoleon stages a coup d'état in 1799 to overthrow Directory Government in France at the time and makes himself First Consul. Naploeon was a military genius who invades many different places in Europe including Austria, Prussia, Portugal, and many other places. Some of the political changes Napoleon did for France was he created the Napoleonic code which makes the laws for France more simple. He allows freedom of religion meaning anyone could follow whatever religion they wanted. Restores a centralized government to France which was good because for a while their government was unstable and all over the place so now they had some type of order. The Estates system is removed so now it is more fair to the commoners and those who didn't have a voice beforehand. There is an increase in education which helps everyone in the country to have more knowledge. Napoleon legacy was very influential to all of Europe. Because of him, France dominated Continental Europe. He was also known for making his family members or brothers rulers on nations he had previously conquered.

After Marie's death, we get to see all of the events that have happened after her and how her death has impacted France and the legacy she has left behind. This also gives us a view into the sequel about Napoleon and his rule and what happened during his downfall and how his legacy has impacted all of Europe.
