St. John Paul || Quote BlogGod. Quote 2: "All men and women are entrusted with the task of crafting their own life: In a certain sense, they are to make of it a work of art, a masterpiece."

What does this quote mean?: Josef Pieper asserts that everyone is welcomed to partake in beauty in order to be completely human, even though not everyone is an artist. Our Catholic faith teaches us that crafting one's life is a human activity that one engages in, in order to walk with God and reflect. I love the quote and I somewhat think this quote is correct. Correct in the way of, it makes sense to me and I understand it. We are responsible for our life overall, and more as we grow up. We are in charge of thinking and making our own decisions throughout our life. We affect our lives more than anyone else. As an artist I see that everyone is unique and If we were all transformed into art, we would all be beautiful, confusing, different, weird, fun and colorful, but no one would fully understand anyone else's masterpiece of themselves because we can never understand, or feel how anyone else does. This quote tells me that I always put a piece of myself, my thoughts, my feelings into any of the art works I create.

I think that the memorial service that was and has continued to be held is an uplifting and amazing thing the community is doing. I feel a colossal amount of respect for the church and members of the community when things like this are done, because they could easily be like many others, whom don’t give it a second thought, but instead make the choice and action to do this wonderful deed.

My mom is a proud board member for The Newmarket Food Pantry, and I help out there sometimes. I already have more than enough school volunteer hours so I would just be trying my best to help, purely with the intentions of helping and not having to get something in return. I know how much good something like the food pantry does for people, i’ve seen it, and I always want to help out.

When I go to Toronto, I don’t usually go for churches, although I have before. I think it was cool for me personally because I haven’t really seen or have been interested in seeing stuff affiliated with that culture, it’s always for fun and leisure or family. Seeing the St. Patrick’s church was a cool new experience because i'm used to much smaller and different than in Toronto. I learned that all churches are unique in their own way, even if it’s the same culture.

What Was Your Favourite Portion Of The Day?
My favourite portion of the day was definitely the prayer walk. I love the city of Toronto and this was a fun new way of experiencing it. Walking through the streets seeing the different cultural buildings and churches, it was really nice, and calming. Being with my friends and running in the rain. I believe that was a great experience we were all able to loosen up on, instead of all of the stress from school. During the walk we got the chance to see quite a few homeless people hiding under shelter from the rain while reciting one of our prayers, I thought at that moment how lucky we all truly are to have each other.

I have loved art since I was small. I am a visual learner and I love expressing my creativity. Since the start of highschool, I've been able to continue my pathway in art more than ever before. In elementary we got to do an hour of art every Friday or something. Now I get specific classes to improve myself and learn new artistic techniques, which I love.

I'm specifically proud of this piece. Probably one of my favourite looking art pieces. This is a christmas card I made by printing. I think I did really well with the carving portion and I love how the finished product came out. I’m proud because this was a new art form for me, and I really enjoyed it.

My whole life I've only done and specialized in visual arts. So far through my integrated arts classes I've figured out new art disciplines, techniques, and Interests. I have also learned what integrated art is and how many daily things we do count as an integrated art. I learned to draw online and animate, I tried figuring out music making apps, and even though I still enjoy more and specialize more in visual arts, I found these new techniques cool, and I'm glad I tried them.

I face my challenges alone, and I sometimes fall behind. I’m very busy at home and when I’m not, I want to relax, but I can’t because of school. I have always struggled with the concept of homework, and studying, and I am pretty good at procrastinating, which is pretty bad. Sometimes I wish I had better goals for myself, but it’s hard to focus on achieving them when I have so much stress and anxiety. That's why my current goals are just successfully passing all my classes. A lot of people/friends this year and last have left me and dislike me. I'm not sure why, but I feel that it greatly impacts me and my mental health. Unfortunalyt I notice I may often take that out on people who are still with me. I’m a very confident person who tries to be happy, but the social aspect in highschool has definitely degraded me and my personality. I am just trying to get to summer and leave the chaos behind. I can’t say I haven’t tried strategies to help, like talking about it, but it doesn’t fix anything, so I prefer to be closed off.

I hope to better myself and my relationships with the people who still support me. I want to be a better person that people want to be around so I can listen and respect them and show them that I am present in their life and not just buried in my own. I am happy to jump into summer and I hope it lasts a while so I can improve and build myself back up.
