Hello there! I'm Aila Chricille Tapao, born on a warm July 16th in 2001, in the serene town of Tabuelan, Cebu. As the eldest among three siblings, I've always felt a sense of responsibility to pave the way and set a positive example for my younger brother and sister. Currently, my days are filled with a delicate balance of academia and professional growth. I'm pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, a field that ignites my passion for creating memorable experiences and fostering genuine connections with people. I thrive on the opportunity to learn and grow with each passing day. In addition to my studies, I've taken on the role of a Human Resource Assistant at Durhan White Beach Resort. Where did I grow up?

A question that has been bugging me since then is, where did I grow up? Others can answer this without thinking deeply but I beg to differ. I was born in Tabuelan, Cebu but I spent my early childhood in the City of Naga, Cebu. I spent my adolescence in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, and there was a time that I spent my almost young adulthood in Maasin City, Southern Leyte. And here I am now, spending my lovely years in the place where I was born, Tabuelan, Cebu. So, where did i really grow up?

What is my educational background?

I spent my elementary days in Langtad Elementary School in the City of Naga, Cebu. My grade 7 until grade 11 in Saint Dominic Savio International School in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. I graduated junior high school with an honor. Continued my Senior High School at the College of Maasin in Maasin City, Southern Leyte. I graduated senior high school with the track STEM in the year 2020. As the pandemic entered, I stopped one school calendar year because I wasn't ready to enter a new type of teaching which was an online class. In the second year of the pandemic, I decided to continue my studies, still at The College of Maasin, taking up Nursing. But then, typhoon Odette hit Maasin City and was catastrophic to the point it affected my studies because we had no electricity for 2 months. After moving back to Cebu, I decided to continue my studies, back to zero, I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management at Cebu Technological University- Tuburan Campus.

What are my hobbies and interests?

When I feel down or stressed out, I divert my attention to other things. I find eating my comfort food as a gateway to my occupied mind. Other than that, being one with nature is also my escape from the cruel reality called life. I also find myself enjoying tear-jerking movies that are worth binge-watching. I cannot also deny the fact of my addiction to K-drama series. I classify these activities as my hobbies and interests.

What are some of my proudest accomplishments?

I am proud to be able to balance both my academics and the demands of my work. It may seem a piece of cake as an accomplishment compared to anyone else out there, but I consider this my proudest accomplishment. Working hand in hand with the management, endless meetings to attend, catering to the needs of the staff, plus managing my time to attend to my responsibilities as a student is, draining right? But I need to keep up for me to thrive more to be able to graduate. Puhon, there will be more proud accomplishments that I will share.

What are some of the challenges I've faced in life?

My 11-year-old self is now crying because every time I have the chance to tell the story wherein my Mama leaving us so early to be in the good hands of our Creator. Growing up without the love and guidance of my Mama seems so heart aching especially the times wherein there were school activities that I know she loves supporting me. Being the eldest child, I felt the urge to stand up as a support system to our family, especially to my younger siblings whom I know are greatly grieving because of the loss of our Mama. After losing my Mama, our lives have been so different. We had to separate ways because I had to live with our other relatives. After all, they will be the ones to support my studies. I find it hard to be away from my siblings and my Papa. Up until now, I am still away from them. Being financially insufficient made us separate from each other's arms. There are still times when I imagine our life with our Mama and being financially stable. Life taught me the hard way to learn to be independent and the need to strive harder for me to survive in this world. Nevertheless, it was never a hindrance for me and for my younger siblings to aim to be successful, in the near future.

How have these challenges shaped me as a person?

The challenges I had faced as I paved my way in this life, taught me the hard way and it shaped me to be who I am today. Without these challenges, I am as fragile as a child. But these challenges, shaped me to be strong and face every obstacle in my life with a head held high. My weakness became my strength, it became my motivation to strive and have the dedication to move forward. But I could not deny the fact that there were times when I thought about giving up because it was draining. Then, it hit me. Giving up was never an option for me because God would not throw challenges at you if He knew you could not handle them. Stay positive, look unto the silver lining, and always have faith to God.

What are some of my future goals and aspirations?

I cannot wait for the day to come when I will shout, "I MADE IT! ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! SANA ALL NO MORE!" I want to wear that black toga, 2 more years from now. I want to explore the hospitality industry and find my expertise. I want to be financially stable. If I want to, I will achieve it, no matter what.

What are some fun facts about myself that others may not know?

I am an open-book kind of person. The people that are close to me know what are my likes and dislikes, especially my pet peeves. One thing they do not know is my addiction to listening to podcasts. Not just any podcasts but horror podcasts, mysteries, and unsolved crimes, like that. It's like a lullaby to me that leads me to sleep.

What is my philosophy on life?

In life, we often encounter obstacles and challenges that may cause us to stumble and fall. However, it is not the fall itself that defines us, but our ability to rise again. Each time we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and continue forward, we become stronger, wiser, and more resilient.

Fear of failure can be paralyzing, preventing us from pursuing our dreams and aspirations. However, it reminds us that the true failure lies in never trying at all. When we allow fear to dictate our actions, we limit our potential and deny ourselves the opportunity to achieve greatness. Instead of fearing failure, we should embrace it as an inevitable part of the journey towards success. It is through failure that we learn valuable lessons, discover our strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately, grow into the best version of ourselves. So, let us not be afraid to take risks, to step out of our comfort zones, and to pursue our passions with courage and determination.
