Headquartered in Fairview, New Jersey, Environmental Safety International has been selling products to facilitate sewage operations and wastewater management for more than 20 years. The company serves customers in both the commercial and residential sectors with a specific focus on the maintenance of septic tanks, dry wells, and cesspools that are not connected to traditional city sewer systems. Environmental Safety International (ESI) currently employs approximately 25 staff members and sells products internationally by phone and on the Internet.

The company’s signature product, Activator 1000, is designed to accelerate organic waste degradation through a unique bacteria-and-enzyme formulation that includes 100 percent natural additives. Sold in liquid and powder form, Activator 1000 can be used to help unclog an old septic tank/sewage system or keep a new septic tank/sewage system operating at maximum capacity. Building on the success of Activator 1000, ESI has released an updated version of the product under the name Activator 2000.

Common Septic Tank Problems - Backup

A provider of wastewater solutions with more than 15 years of industry experience, Environmental Safety International, Inc. helps septic tank owners keep their wastewater systems functional. To that end, Environmental Safety International incorporates an effective mix of bacteria and enzymes in its Activator 1000 product line to help address the most difficult of septic system problems.

When a septic system functions properly, the wastewater drains into a soil bed that in turn cleanses the water through its natural filtering action. Sometimes, conditions in the septic system shift so that water can longer drain through or reach the soil, resulting in sewage backing up in pipes or percolating through the topsoil.

This can occur when the underground drainfield soil becomes too saturated, unable to soak in additional wastewater from the septic tank. Causes include abnormally wet weather, which refreshes groundwater to the extent that it saturates the septic drainfield.

Occasionally, the septic system may malfunction by permitting solid waste or oil material to escape, clogging the soil or the pipes. Such escaped material is often a sign that the septic tank has not been properly maintained. To promote a healthy septic system, bacteria and enzymes should be used monthly.
