3.I Included Fort Churchill built in 1861 because it interesting how it is still standing today. Fort churchill was used to protect early settlers and guard Pony Express Mail runs. Now it is still standing in ruins because it is preserved by arrested decay. It is Nevada´s first, largest military outpost established in the July 1860 and fell in 1869 due to protecting the people in the civil war.

I added the first stretch of the Transcontinental Railroad, which went from Council Bluffs Iowa to the beginning of the Union Pacific Railroad in Nebraska , along with the pin on the "Golden Spike."

I think our map can at least be top 2 since we all put our effort in. I think we all did our parts.

I did not put information in the pins so I don't know much about the pins themselves but I do know that the Murdock Site was 2 miles south of present day Alda, Nebraska.
4) I think that the other maps are probably better than ours because I have no confidence in our map, and I don't want the ice cream social. Also, Period 5's map is the absolute best. They deserve the prize. I especially loved Miguel's contribution to the map.

Our class map (Period 5) is the best map out of everything because of its cool structure. If you look at the map as a whole, then a lot of the points are in the center of America. I liked period 2 because of their information on the Bozeman trail as it said that 300,000 Americans traveled on the Bozeman Trail over the course of 30 years. The thing I liked about Period 4´s map is that they have over 100 points on their map. Period 3´s map is also nice because I learned that the Bozeman trail ended in central Wyoming in 1868.

3) I included Fayetteville as a main point on our trail because, on Jan. 13, 1839, a group 1,110 Cherokees led by John Benge passed through the frontier village of Fayetteville. It in my opinion one of the most important areas they traveled through, also we couldn't find much information about when the Cherokees passed through the other pins.
4) Looking at the map Period 5 made, I really like the information for the pins for the Transcontinental Railroad, Also, the Pony Express had some really amazing pins, the information was great. Period 3 also had some great trails, my favorite from their period was the California Trail, their facts about each pin made me wish to visit the pins.

I think that our class did well, with over 100 pins on our map filled with information. The other classes did very well too. I liked how period 2 had lots of information, for example that the Central and Pacific railroad met on May 10th, 1869. Period 2 could have added more pins, but otherwise their map is great. Period 3 has good information and very creative pins and are very organized, but they need to make their trails more visible. Period 5 has the most pins out of all the classes and have great information, but the pins are kind of all over the place and I can't really tell where the trail is since it is so small. In my opinion, period 3 probably won because of their creativity, organization, information, and overall appearance.

3. The coolest thing that i noticed about the railroad is the fact that it lines up almost directly with I-80. I think that when they built the Interstate, they followed the Railroad so that they diddnt have to re-map the route. Although it has some minor route differences, it generally follows the railroad pretty well. Quoting Wikipedia, " I-80 follows the historical routes of the California Trail, First Transcontinental Railroad and Feather River Route.

My favorite point:
The City of Rocks marked progress west for the emigrants and, for their loaded wagons, a mountain passage over nearby Granite Pass. Early emigrant groups were guided by experienced mountain men such as Joseph B. Chiles and Joseph R. Walker. Later wagon parties followed the trails themselves, perhaps with the help of diary accounts of previous migrants. By 1846, emigrants headed for Oregon's Willamette Valley also used this route as part of the Applegate Trail. In 1848 Samuel J. Hensley pioneered the Salt Lake Alternate Trail from Salt Lake City via Emigrant Canyon to Granite Pass. In 1852, some 52,000 people passed through the City of Rocks on their way to the California goldfields.
This is my favorite pin because I've been to the city of rocks and it's very beautiful and it makes me happy. I like the rocks and I have a lot of pictures from there.

The trail that I like the most in period 3's map is the Transcontinental Railroad because of their creative pins, great information, and overall great appearance. I learned that the railroad started in Omaha, Nebraska.

I think my group, the Transcontinental Railroad, is the best because we have a TON of pins, we have a dead accurate path, we have a paragraph and a picture for EVERY SINGLE PIN. We worked very hard on our topic and that is why we deserve to win the ice cream social. Even if we dont win, it would still have been a fun project and a great learning experience. I like the independence rock because it goes through the Oregon trail and California trail.
Independence Rock is a large granite rock it is 130 ft high, 1,900 ft long, 850 ft wide

I think our class did a good job by getting the images and information of our map. We spent a lot of time on calibrating with our team and class like the color of the trail to tell people which trail it is. We also put symbols where we can show the where things are found like body of water,mountains,e.t.c. Which person in our group is going to do which point. We also got the project done.

All in all I think my period's map is the best at un-empty pins if you completely ignoring the Oregon Trail I have no idea what that was about but other than that entire trail there was only two or three empty pins and everything else had either facts about the area or the trail itself.

Period 2 did great, I like how they put specific detail to the pins like for example: They put finish lines at the end of each trail. Also Some trails had great description. Lastly There was some pins with great pictures. The was still things they could've improved on. Some pins had no description. Some pins had no photos. Lastly there was random pins on the map

(All comparisons were to my periods map just stating here so I might not re-mention this every few sentences). Period 2 tended to have better quality while the other periods tended to focus on quantity and just by looking at it Period 3 takes the cake (metaphor) for the most amount of pins mainly from the Erie canal. Period 4 tended to have a balance between quantity, and quality within the trails where some pins had 2 lines of information and others had entire paragraphs.

Period 3 did very good on their map. They had creative pins. They replaced them with pictures. Most had great description. Most had great pictures. Great facts. The Santa Fe trail did not put any description on most of they're pins. They also had no line connecting the pins. Lastly, They had no pictures.
