Think-Pair-Square. This technique builds on the partner talk we ask students to engage in throughout the lesson. We use this when
posing questions that require more conversation. After partners discuss
a question, they join another set of partners to extend their ideas. Once the four students have met, we shift back to whole-class discussion of
the topic. A benefit we find over the course of the first month is that they become more adept at using features of accountable talk, especially in building on the ideas of one another.
