Most of people involved in the sector are working as freelance and they could basically get a job based on social networks. This hierarchical structure holds back female artists in an economic hierarchy, which could cause various human rights issues such as sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and human rights infringement.

Therefore, this session offered an opportunity to touch upon inequality, assessed the current status of inequality, and sought for ways to overcome those issues in the culture and art sector.

<My opinion>

I also attended this session and thought about how to resolve structural inequality in the culture and art sector.

I think the most obvious way is to strengthen the law to prevent career breaks due to pregnancy and childbirth so that it can affect the culture and art sector too. Although there are such laws today, that laws are useless in the culture and art sector. The reason is that they are mostly freelancers. Also, many people's attention and encouragement about arts are needed so that various and many artists can work briskly. I hope our society will be equal without discrimination.

I went to Wondang Mountain last week.
Wondang Mountain is a small mountain located in Jangdeok-dong, Gwangju.
A walking trail and nature are in harmony there.
It's not too steep, so the mountain is good for walking with your pet.
There is also a cultural center for teenagers in front of Wondang Mountain.
If you go to the center, you can enjoy various cultural activities for free, such as table tennis, dance, reading and music..etc.
Also, an observatory is on the top of mountain. The observatory serves as a very large clock in the neighborhood. Because there is an electronic clock on the wall. And it is also a famous place to see the sunrise every New Year.

I went there with my friend.
First, we watched dogs run around in the open grass. Then, we walked on Wondang Mountain walking trail. I was worried that it would be dangerous because it was night, but it was okay because the streetlights and safety facilities were well installed.
When we started to get short of breath because we climbed the stairs, finally we could see the beautiful city night view. A sparkling fluorescent lights leaked from the high apartment windows. I thought, 'The lights are like stars.' It was so wonderful.
Also, I heard the sound of grass bugs in the grass around the trail. It's a nature sound that's opposite to the beautiful city view I was looking at, but they matched each other well and made my mind peaceful. My friend and I went to the observatory and came back to the entrance. It was a beautiful experience

I recommend that you come to this place with a dog, a lover, and a friend in the evening. This place is quiet and beautiful, so it's good to talk seriously and walk together. And It is also clean place, so it is good for walking the dog.
Many people visit Wondang Mountain Observatory mainly, But My best place is the wooden swing next to the walking trail that located before 10 minutes to arrive to the observatory. Sitting there, and watching the wonderful city night view with the person you love.
The observatory closes at 6 o'clock, so it is not good timing to watch the night view. But the wooden swing is open any time! Also, it's winter soon, so I recommend to bring warm can coffee. It will be a very satisfying memory.

The reason I chose the folly is,
First, it's close to the school. I could save time because it was within walking distance. Second, because I like high places. I like to see beautiful scenery from a high place like that folly. Third, I wanted to go to a place where I could talk with my friend. I wanted to watch the folly sharing opinions with each other rather than watching it quietly.

The session I attended was on October 6 at 9:00, 'How are Women's Inequality and Poverty Reproduced in the Sector of Culture and Art?'.

There were 'Lee San' from 'Representative , Genderar Hab Yiro' and 'Lim Inza' from 'Co-chair, Committee for Resolution of sexual assault case resolution in theatre field at Gwangju' to talk about this topic.

At the session, I learned the facts that the poverty rate of households headed by females throughout their whole life cycle is higher than those by males, and the results could be demonstrated in the sector of culture of art, too.

Especially, In the sector of culture of art, the proportion of female workers is higher than that of male workers in general. Most of people involved in the sector are working as freelance and they could basically get a job based on social networks. So, the labor structure tends to be determined by gender awareness of decision makers which could cause inequality.

In connection with that, 'Lee San' said gender equality policies inside and outside the culture and arts world are needed to support artists' rights guaranteed activities that question and practice a gender-equal art environment and promote art activities that promote the imagination of a gender-equal society.

Also, 'Lim In-ja' said that it is necessary to pay attention to the environment in which artists are engaged in artistic activities in Gwangju. In addition, She mentioned that working out a plan about how to change gender-discriminatory and hierarchical culture, and making efforts to evaluate gender impact and create a safe creative environment in the future are important.

<My opinion>

I also attended this session and thought about how to resolve structural inequality in the culture and art sector.

I think the most obvious way is to strengthen the law to prevent career breaks due to pregnancy and childbirth so that it can affect the culture and art sector too. For example, creating a system that guarantees jobs from the state for women after childbirth for more than three months. This could be an opportunity to get back to work, even if they lose your job due to pregnancy and childbirth. Although there are such laws today, that laws are useless in the culture and art sector. The reason is that they are mostly freelancers. Also, many people's attention and encouragement about arts are needed so that various and many artists can work briskly. I hope our society will be equal without discrimination.
