The purpose of this article is to show the negative effect student debt has had on America's economy. This article talks about how in total student loans exceed $1 trillion in America. The average debt of a student just graduating college is $25,000. This causes most people to delay on purchasing homes, cars, or starting families. It could well be the next economic bomb that sends the country in a tailspin. The intended audience is everyone that currently has student debt and to the Board of Education. The rhetorical appeal used in this source was effective because they use facts that would make the reader have sympathy for those with student loans. The source helps clarify the topic because it uses statistics to show facts. There may be bias in the article, as the writer may have student loan debt. This article is useful and relevant towards my topic.

The purpose of this article was to announce Biden's student loan relief plan and to say how it would affect different debt payers. This article emphasizes debts impact on Americans. It asks for a larger amount of relief since most debt payers have very high amounts of debt. The intended audience is struggling Americans and maybe even the president. The article uses rhetorical appeals like, personal stories and logical arguments which is effective towards their argument. The source clarifies and defines the topic by adding a broader look on the situation and different perspectives. The article shows bias because it uses very personal argument points and they emphasize the difficulty of being in debt, and not the political aspect of reliving student debt. The article is both useful and relevant because it explains a detailed perspective of the effect debt has on many Americans.

The purpose of this article was to provide other alternatives instead of reliving student debt, like adjusting bankruptcy rules or lowering interest rates. This source criticizes the idea of full student loan forgiveness because they believe it would be irresponsible. The intended audience is students who have student debt. The article uses emotional appeal and ethical appeal, and they were both effective because it impacts readers morality and fairness. The article defines the topic because it highlights is financial issues people face with student debt. The article has some defect and bias because they have a negative look on the idea of student loan forgiveness. They also underestimated the effect of student loan debt by assuming only lowering interest rates will have an impact of high student loans. The article could be useful because it adds a different perspective, but overall, it's not because their argument doesn't have good reasoning towards the topic.
