<title>&quot;Under the terms of this law over 20 newspaper editors were arrested, and some were put in prison. One victim of the law was Matthew Lyon. He was a lawmaker from Vermont. He wrote a letter that criticized Adams. Today, it would be as if Lyon called Adams greedy. Lyon was put into prison for the letter. While Federalists sent Lyon to prison for his opinions, his supporters re-elected him even from his jail cell.&quot;</title>
