Disadvantages of this is the experience. They can make friends and these friendships can last a lot longer than the normal friendships. Internet also can help their social skills in the classroom. For example when they have a project about the German Culture and wants to learn about the oktoberfest, they can just talk with a German student on the internet to get that information.

However if these things used more than the real life interaction, it can damage ones social skills too.
