Geography: The land had many different attributes to it but most was coastal plains and mountainous regions. The soil was perfect for farming and it suited the plantation style of life.
Weather: Very warm climate with very hot humid summers and winters with mild weather.
Impact: The land, soil, and weather gave these colonies one of the longest growing seasons but extreme heat encouraged diseases that ravaged plantations.

Religion: In the colonies with communities big enough to have religious communities all religions are tolerated. The original religion of some of the first settlers is Catholicism. For the most part religion did not matter because of how spread out everyone was the closest person to you was miles away so no widespread persecution could occur.
Economy: The southern economy was based upon farming and slave and indentured labor. The things most valuable thing sold are tobacco, rice, and in later years slave trade. Slave labor allowed plantations to cheaply produce these valuable materials and put them on market for a high price to make bank.
