Clean Driving Record/Background check (safety will review driving record and approve)

Must have recommendation from WBL teacher or guidance counselor  

What is the program? 

This is an 8-week paid internship working with our line crews. This opportunity is a true summer internship and will not convert into a full-time position, but it is a great way to find out if you have a true interest and aptitude for a line worker career prior to going to lineman school or contracting work. Participants will learn about what our crews do to maintain our lines and keep the lights on as well as what is needed to stay safe in the field.

Apprentices receive instruction in the areas of drafting/general piping, math/science, medical gas certification, backflow certification, oxy-acetylene cutting, brazing, soldering, refrigeration, welding, pneumatic/electric controls, green awareness technology, plumbing code, plumbing service, and building automation.

Pay Scale 1st year $19.55, 2nd year $21.50, 3rd year $23.50, 4th year $27.40 and 5th year $31.30.  After completion of the required classes, certification(s), and on the job training hours, an apprentice will turn out as a journeyman making $39.13 per hour.

At CTL, Program Staff are the direct connection to our campers. They are tasked with implementing programs to positively impact our campers and their families. Every Program Staff member has numerous responsibilities throughout the Summer. Each responsibility ties directly to creating an environment and atmosphere of learning, acceptance, community and friendship-building, and independence for all campers, volunteers, and staff.

Program Staff are responsible for helping campers achieve positive, measurable outcomes. Each week, campers will leave CTL with skills that will improve their lives outside of Camp.
