Our school ICT labs are protected with an annual anti-virus software. Students are not allowed to install any programs, neither are teachers. It is only the lab technician who installs the programs. In our country we have a centralised firewall which thankfully prevents breaches in our security. We are also obliged to have an AUP in our school which outline safery protocols like scanning USB drives, not opening personal emails or downloading external programs. Students are taught to ask the teacher for help if prompt windows appear on their desktops asking to download anything. We have 2 separate networks, so the administrative network is the one with the sensitive data.

Currently I can say I only dealed with 1 case in 3 years with my >100 computers infrastructure. I have a free antivirus on each PC, firewall and work with proxies. I have 2 separated networks and one of them is made of 2 VLANs. One for teachers only access and one accessed by both teachers and students. No issues 'til now.

My experiences with those bad friends regarding internet acces is that on one of my stick there is a virus which doesn't let me put any documents and in the proprietes it shows me there is enough space. This virus I took from the school from one computer, So my data from it I couldn't use and my stick is sick, methaphoric speaking. at the first, separate system and data in 2 partitions, if you are 'lucky' to use windows, like we are in school, prevention is important, after that, create more separate local networks using more network devices, turn on firewalls, install on computers too, do not use anything built in windows, next step is during the work observe computer behaviur, take care what you do, think as hacker thinks, on time by time use antimalware tool, every time different one, if you see any potential problems, think how could that happen, because malware appear on system during online status, use few different tools one by one to scan system, enough free or test period antimalware tools, regularly update, change to another one, and if nothing helps, use your backup or reinstall system from image. this theme is long story, i tried to be short....

All the public schools in our region are protected by the central servers. We use a dinamic IP protocol that protect us. In what way? Well, in spite of rather organized eSchool project (with focus on the network), we've inherited quite a mess, in terms of old pc's (obsolete OS) and a few minor LAN networks: there are still PC's with Win XP installed (!?)...Win 7 and Win 10 (with Windows Defender pre-installed). At least 3-4 independent wired networks exist in our two buildings...
Fortunately, Wifi network is well protected through CARNet services.

Our network is protected by CARNet (blocking content unsuitable for children), computers used in administration have antivirus program and computers used by teachers have Windows 10 installed and they are protected by Windows Defender. The teachers don't share any sensitive data. Additionally, we use Office 365. In the past we had some infected computers, but by the time we adopted the forms of protection.

We use an updated anti-virus software, firewalls, and students and teachers are not allowed to install programs (their network profiles do not allow them to do this).

We have two separate networks: one for students and teachers and another for administration.

USB devices, improper use of e-mails and printing of confidential documents that are forgotten in printers can still be a problem.

We need to improve by adopting safer behaviours in the network (do not open attachments from unknown ...)

We have separated our Admin network from Teacher/Student network. Sensitive data is on a secured server with minimal access to only those that require it and only at the level they may require i.e. some have read access to policies for example whilst other admin staff have read/write access. All students and teachers have their own Cloud account for email and data storage. We run a daily NAS backup which is kept in a separate secured location from the server for backup and disaster recovery purposes.

In my school we have a program installed in the teachers PCs that works like Deep Freeze but it’s free: Reboot restore rx. This software prevents any changes made on your drives by restoring a saved baseline every time the PC boots up, so if by any chance the PC is infected with malware during use, all we have to do is reset the PC and all is back to a defined clean state.

Nevertheless, we have a free antivirus in every computer (teachers and students PC in the computer lab) which is the suite Comodo Internet Security.

From time to time, there is someone with problems, such as files lost in their USB drives, but there are few cases.

A teacher once brought a worm to our school on her USB memory, it copied itself on a shared teacher computer. It didn't spread over the network, but every USB memory of other teachers and some other laptops/computers got infected. Malwarebytes was enought to clean the infected computers.

Fortunately in our school I do not meet a lot of viruses and malware. All malware I see is from incorrect use of browsing or not securing the email attachments. Usually I try to remove them using software (free) and if that fails just to make sure virus is permanently deleted I reformat the PC.

No problem at school, but many questions and problems about my colleagues' private computers at home... They are brave only at work (or are they afraid, because we have strong security policy???).

In my school is just starting the process of digitization of data. Until now we have not problems against virus attacks. Some problems are linked to the sensitive data. We must managed them in the proper way.
I found CISCO courses very useful in this field.

We have 2 firewalls in all of our networks. We never had any issue or troubles with virus, malware...Our computers have administration and teachers accounts. So, teachers are not allow to download software, they have to ask our technical support (helpdesk). Once time a month pc's are cleaning and mantained. We prefer save the files in our drives and do not use pen´s.

Antivirus are highly recommended, but here in Brazil are expensive, we use microsoft internet security that is free.
In the year 2015 we use Northon, but we can not continue because the license was for only three computers
